Quite cool that the current hottest band in the UK happens to be a good one as well... I really like their edgy rock sound...

Yeah, I love the Arctic Monkeys ... then again, who doesn't? Which is the problem ... they used to be so great and indie, and then, MTVerized.

Blame the British press, they ruin all that's good.

>>By Catri   (Tuesday, 14 Mar 2006 09:17)

Uh... I believe they actually achieved their success through selling loads of tracks on the Internet for downloading... anyway, I think they're rubbish

True, but now they're definitely going quite mainstream ... I like them, they're very much like the Strokes, but I can see in their future commercialism.

I don't find them similar with The Strokes...

you can also clearly hear which one is American and which British.

>>By Catri   (Thursday, 16 Mar 2006 20:51)

You can hear the difference between them, but songs like "Cigarette Smoke" and "From the Ritz to the Rubble" remind me of the Stroke's "Juicebox".

Yeah I can see a close resemblance but I'd say that the Strokes have more musical consistency

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Saturday, 18 Mar 2006 00:25)

"the Strokes have more musical consistency" ...Well I suppose you could say that if you wanted but I would advise against it because you might sound like a third-rate music teacher giving them their end of term report ;)

>>By planet ear   (Saturday, 18 Mar 2006 01:33)

Hahahaha you're right - however, third-rate is pretty good for me, considering my lack of musical education...
I'll try again:
The Strokes have what seems to me to be a more accessible sound - a bit less experimental than the Arctic Monkeys; however, I prefer the Strokes... the sound they've found seems to suit them well and I think it's good whereas the Arctic Monkeys, whilst being more original seem to be painfully clichéd and I just can't stand them!

Damn, I have to agree with you for once :P

Haha - excellent! I also agree with you saying that they have an edgy rock sound, with "edgy" being the operative word; not that that's necessarily a bad thing...

haha :D

omg, just heard Sugababes' version of I Bet that You Look Blah Blah and it was, um, interesting.
