what album was "I'm a bitch I'm a lover" on?

>>By tommie   (Friday, 20 Jun 2003 06:12)

i' d say she's shocking because the way she sings is completely uncompromised (is there such a word?); i mean she doesn't seem to care for singing right or properly but she's much more concerned about passing on a kind of pain (not necessarily hers) that touches not only the ears but also the feeling of inconformity within all of us. so, the first thing ye wanna do is search the lyrics and be aware of the whole subject. she wouldn't have gone so far if it weren't for the new female rebel style. tchuss!

i love her since i heard her... she is just like pain on your ears and she knows how to break all that you almost fear

Ok alanis has been for a long time an inspiration outlet for me and i love the transition from the fist album to the second. I think that it's really cool thats she's at peace with all, but i'm sorry, she seems to be more fake and fake...I am a diehard but man through a real bone....

I have heard the song, I'm a bitch by Merideth Brooks and it is a completely different version than the popularized one that plays on teh radio, the version I always thought was by Alanis Morissette. I have been trying to research it and find out why I can't find the version from the radio anywhere. Can anyone clear this up?

Alanis is a wonderful musician. A lot of people put her down. They say she is fake and writes things that she should not write about. There is one man whos says that her song"Hand In My Pocket" should show people just how fake she is. For instance, the first words of the song are "I'm broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm kind". He says that she has no business singing about that because she has never been poor.
Well, who cares if she has never been poor! All she is doing is writing a song and putting the music out so that people can have something to inspire them. A song is a song. Just because one sings about does not mean one is telling his/her life story. She is not a fake at all. If she is, she has not given anyone a reason to believe so.
I love Alanis and I hope that she continues writing no matter what people say about her.

I don't generally pay attention to lyrics or singing, i'm an instrumental guitar and bass fan, and also take notice when I hear a good drummer, but I love Alanis's voice. Its really honest, a bit broken, and unusual, (I love my music a bit different), so thats why I admire her. I also like the way she talks about things that really happened to her and goes back to that experiece and talks about in a song structure, although it may not fully be as it really happened. I have no idea what people are saying when they say she is fake, because she is being herself, expressing herself beautifully, and being an honest musician. Music is a vehicle for expressing yourself, and making people feel a certain way, and if that involves making up a sad story of being poor, or talking about love, irony or whatever, then there is no shame in that! How could there be?

One thing tho, which is funny, sorry if I'm bein pedantic, but nothing that Alanis sings about in that famous Ironic song is really ironic. Its just tragic, or sad, or something else, but not ironic.
Ironic is if say you do something to prevent something from going wrong, but it actually proves to be the trigger to cause the pain you are trying to prevent. Does that make sense?

Anyway, definately love Alanis. I also like The Cranberries, Sherel Crow, Tracy Chapman, Garbage, Nelly Furtado and I forgot her name, can anyone help?

Whats the name of the female singer who is black, shaved bald, and has a really high, nice voice and I think was really big in 99? I like her too. Is it massive attack? I think of her as the female version of Seal

GOT IT! I'm thinking of the song Hedonism by Skunk Anansie!!! That took me a lot of thought to find it. First all I could remember was
She sang something like 'every time ta da da', that was the tune. Something about happiness. So i searched the web, finally found the song, then thru the song traced it back to the artist. I didn't get anywhere trying to find the charts in 99.

Yeah, so those are some female vocalists I like besides Alanis.

So, if you've got suggestions, email me

At this very moment, I am listening to Alanis Morissette. The album....Under Rug Swept.
What I love about her voice, is that she can sing in so many different ways. Its as if she is singing the testimonies of the many different emotions inside her head and heart.
Savvy_stevie, I can recommend Enya. Look her up on the internet or something.

>>By cerebrator   (Thursday, 22 Apr 2004 08:14)

Hey, insane, i didn't know you liked Alanis. By the way does anyone know what her first album was called? i can't for the life of me remember.

>>By Overlyobsessed   (Thursday, 29 Apr 2004 06:50)

Sorry, can't help you there...I've only been a fan for....well, not very long.
And same to you obsessed, well it's a small world i s'pose.

>>By just_slightly_insane   (Saturday, 8 May 2004 06:45)

Don't worry, her first album was self - titled. there was an article in the sunday herald sun today (16th may,2004) because her new album so called chaos came out last week.

>>By Overlyobsessed   (Sunday, 16 May 2004 12:38)

I love Alanis. I don't think she's fake in any way, she just has the ability to see life from other people's perspectives. She's really talented and I'm disappointed that I hadn't discovered her sooner.

Jagged Little Pill are great!
and Under rug swept is pretty good

I love her vocals...
the way...
in " you learn" how she strings your voice out over a backdrop of music like silly string over a pile of toys... its so amazing

and she's very creative

I'll be seeing her Live with The Barenaked Ladies in Concert on august sixth, 2004...
