Yngwie Malmsteen

yngwie is the first to show the world the unimaginably fast and accurate guitar shred...

after him, many try to match and imitate his playing. although some might be suceeded, in term of speed, no one is playing like yngwie.
he has created a class of his own, a standard which others will look at and try to attain.

after more than 5 years of playing guitar, i still can't understand how he achieves such incredible mastery.

if anyone still says that yngwie is copying ritchie blackmore, i say NO WAY... he is faster, better, more creative, more accurate, and his music is really an oustanding blend of classic, heavy metal, and speed rock.....

Hello there! I love Yngwie. I just recently got into his music about a year ago. Got my brother and many of my friends into him again. I think he's one of those guys who everyone has an opinion about-- they either love him, or hate him. One thing's for damn sure, and that's the fact that he's talented. Anyone who says he doesn't play with emotion is ignorant or full of sh*t. If you've seen him play, whether live or on video, it's apparent. It's bleedingly obvious that he lives and breathes his music. If you can't tell by listening, you should get your ears checked. I think he takes way too much flak for being honest and upfront. Most of us hate people who are shady or who lie through their teeth, no? Yng in the most honest person I have ever met! And, yes, I met him briefly in Reno. He'd been playing roulette. I found him to be quite charming and very accomodating, considering we really were invading (myself and my brother). He signed an item for each of us and then we got the hell out of there. But he was very kind. I think he definitely would've continued talking to us, and would have taken pictures, if we had a camera at the time. His wife April is very sweet as well.
But the fact still remains that he is talented in many ways. And he's a good guy. And I hate when people won't give him a chance because of what they've heard about him. sure, he uses a lot of the same scales in his music, which is 99 per cent in minor keys. But he uses these scales in different ways. And in Western music, really there are only 2 ways to do it, major and minor. Minor is far less common as well. He's unique, he's talented, and by God he's sexy.
God Bless Yngwie Johann Malmsteen!!!

i play guitar n i adore him. at the 1st I like Slash, after i heard yngwie i simply left mainstream lead guitar style n starts playing shred. its true he is fast n beautiful sounds. alot of good guitar player that play shred, jason becker, marty friedman, sometimes dave mustaine. but they from USA and yngwie from Sweden. so he is much2 more original. but not when he's playing fast and improv, cos everybody can play fast n improv. the best is when he plays sredding with pattern, intens classic pattern.... he is the best. Far beyond the sun. vengeance, seventh sign, rising force... too much to tell, im 21 n im from indonesia, he came here twice but i missed it all cosi was still a kid lol... i like nordic style.. blind guardian. rhapsody. i love napalm death. carcass. dark tranquility. sodom. dimmu borgir. so.. based on that i have a very good argument huh lol
