While Malmsteen could be lumped in to such a genre, he cannot be called slop or junk. His lightning fast scale progressions, amazing solo's and highly technical, if not sometimes a bit drab compositions are the thing of legend. Even those who do not care for his style now remark that he had a huge influence on modern guitar music, especially the "speed" scene. Malmsteen is one of a kind. Accused of lacking feel, he has introduced us to a style of guitar playing that kicked to the curb the rules, and the standard.
