Widespread panic has been known to bring the heat. Expecially with a man named mike houser, thats all you really need to know. I am just glad i got to hear him whale it out when i did.

Their music is a blend of southern rock, infused with funk, blue grass, gospel, and jazz. You're right, so what else is new? Well, as we all know there are plenty of jam bands with eclectic stylings above described. But each band is unique, and I think Panic is unique. They present the music in a format that is deeply southern, with more blues notes than the typical jam band. I tend to enjoy their early work more. Listening to Pigeons reminds me of my home near Oxford, Ms, and Walking a personal favorite. The melody of that song combined with the heartfelt vocals adds a charm that as is quoted in Wolf's Electric Koolaid Acid Test, "transcends the bullshit."

the best damn rock 'n' roll band in along time.southern rock with a twist.

>>By spreadneck   (Friday, 24 Jan 2003 18:28)

This band is the most energetic band around. All you have to do is go to a show and you will have all perceptions of what this band is about. You will be hooked after your first show and the importance of the band will grow more every show you go to. The have so much power behind their music, and not only is the music what makes the band, their spirit also is a contributing factor. They're personalities are portrayed in their music and I can't think of any other band that has an incredible sound along with an incredible spirit behind the sound. Widespread Panic rocks!

Red Hot Mama is right. if you want to write an accurate description of the band; go to a show.

If someone tells me they don't like Panic, instantly it tells me there is something wrong with this person.

NO KIDDING. where do i sign up for a class that you write about panic? It's the only band that i can't get enough of. it's so easy to get lost in the music. henry31, i totally agree about mcconnell. he gives so much energy it's amazing..i can't tell you how many times i've gotten goosebumps just watching him play Doreatha on The Backyard dvd (and Nance's reactions to it is great).i don't think the boys could've possibly found a better person to add to the band after mikey passed away. anybody going to DC? ill be there and raleigh and charlotte too.
"Why can't we just take a look around us and only see the things that makes us smile." panic makes me smile : )

Hey there! This is a superb band with a collection of ultrafine recordings. I would not know where to start with recommendations: except to get them all!! The only issue I have is that I have purchased a few copies of "Light Fuse" over the years and the second disc always has periodic 'silent spots"??? Is this true for all copies of this CD or what?? Any insights out there???

>>By Lazlo   (Sunday, 13 Apr 2003 02:38)

Being from Athens, and seeing the guys play away from each other, then hearing them all on one stage, playing an amazing "Red Hot Mama" or "The Waker" is out of this world! if you get the chance to come to Colorado to see them play Red Rocks, its the best thing you can do for Panic-Fever!!

>>By soulshakinglifeNC   (Friday, 18 Apr 2003 04:54)

How long does a show last?

>>By curious   (Wednesday, 23 Apr 2003 01:48)

a Willie and Me show? i guess around 4 hours..they're a local band getting started up so they play at a lot of bars around here but they are going on tour in a couple months ..they're awesome guys with a lot of potential...they can really get a crowd going and do some awesome Panic covers.
