Greatest band of all time would have to be the Beatles with U2 right behind them (still debating though).
Favorite band of all time would have to be U2 with no other band coming close.
I have found over the years that U2 defines greatness. Their songs are so rich and there passion is so inspiring and so genuine that no other band can compare. Where other bands fall short U2 is there. People think that most of today's music is good or even great but the problem is that it's "Today's Music" and a year or sometimes even a couple of months later people are sick of it, nobody cares about it, and people just go, "Oh yeah, that song, I remember it, what was that band that did that?" U2 has never was a one hit wonder band or just one of those trends. They've been around for 25 years now, gone through changing times (music from 1977 to 2002, enough said), changed their sound a couple of times, and has consistently composed powerful lyrics, had there own style, and overall produced great music. The only problem I've found is that when I listen to any other music it is nothing is as good as U2.

U2, what can I say ? Well I can say for certain that they are the best band that world have ever known, knows and will know . Their music is so inspiring and with lyrics that are so deep that make you think . From albums like The Unforgetable Fire to Rattle And Hum to All That You Can't Leave Behind, they've proved that they're not just another fad that goes out of style but a style that every other fad is then judged by . No band or musician can be raised to their level of musical genius . I'm only 15 and I can tell you all this . Alot of my friends can't belive that I can even begin to like their music, then again ... alot of them don't understand it .

Bono may be the sexiest main man ever but the Edge is the silent and dealy one.........how cool is he.

Sorry I mean't silent and deadly.......

U2 is without a doubt one of the top five rock bands of all time. Their style is undeniably unique and in terms of meaning and lyrics, few other bands can come close. I remember near the end of the first Bill and Ted movie how George Carlin said "your band will help to end third-world poverty, war, racism, etc..." Truth is, we already have a band that's doing that, and that is U2.

still haven' t found what I' m looking for, sunday bloody sunday and pride (in the name of love) are the best songs going

>>By u2 forever   (Friday, 13 Jun 2003 16:44)

Their songs do all the talking. It just keeps getting better and better. U listen to 1 good album and u get interested in the band. Then u listen to another and they sound even better. Then u discover a third album and u think living is worthwhile now that you're into u2. The powerful lyrics, the voice, the enigma of The Edge...it all pulls u in. For me With Or Without You made me feel like i was blessed. And after that i cud name so many that there isnt enuf space here. So u2 goes 4 me-2...

U2 have been an integral part of my life. No other band can reach you like they can, and keep doing it for years and years. Every time I listen to Where the Streets Have no Name, it's like I'm hearing it for the first time. According to my father, I was less than a year old when he brought home Joshua Tree. He used to blast it on the stereo, and there I was, before I was even able to walk, gripping the wall-unit and bouncing up and down. So, I can literally say that I've been a fan all of my 16 years. My other favorites are Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, New Year's Day, I Will Follow, Bad, Mysterious Ways, Unforgettable Fire, October, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (So, in other words EVERYTHING!). My only concern is that they are becoming less rock, and more soft pop.

U2 RULES. SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY FOREVER

>>By the dude named erik   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 16:19)

From the smoky sound of Bono's voice in the Unforgetable Fire to the refined and wise lyrics of A.T.Y.C.L.B. U2 has been the best.

As I am Irish,I think I love U2 more than any of you and have more rights as an Irish fan.
I was also born the year Joshua Tree was released(making me 16 in 19 days),have the Cd in my room.Saw them in Slane. One of the most historic moments in my life.It runs in the family,"one" was played at my uncle's funeral,"with or without you" has been sang to me by many a boy and I terrorised Spain with 9 others by singing "sunday bloody sunday" at top room voice.I also do a kick ass "whoo-oo-oo" for "elevation".They are the greatest band in the world and are from Dublin. It's amazing. They are from Dublin.Beat that Westlife. I hope The Revs do as well.Support The Revs, they're from Donegal.U2 love The Revs,so you lads better love them.Their album Suck is deadly,go buy it.Support the Irish.Go buy it.When I'm famous, you better support me.

hey Lube, I wish I had such a rich U2 history ;)
anyway, sadly I'm not Irish (but I've been to Ireland and loved it!), which doesn't prevent me from being a U2 fan =) I saw them in Germany and it was a dream come true. what impresses me most about them (apart from the brilliant music) is the fact that they are so committed to what they do. and it's really fascinating that 4 guys have been playing together for 25 ys - they're like a family ;) they're simply amazing...

>>By hooloovoo   (Monday, 8 Sep 2003 16:42)

Hey Lube,
I reckon I could challenge you. Sure, I'm not Irish, but I think I am probably a bigger U2 fan than you. I went to both Slane Castle gigs from the Elevation Tour aswell as getting tickets for the Astoria gig they did in February - and I was only 14 at the time. Also, I battled and rose up triumphant from a family who weren't 'fond' of them as a band. OK, I can't do the whoo-hoo's on Elevation, but I could probably beat you at the whole Sunday Bloody Sunday thing, as I got about 200 people to join me in singing it (while totally pissed) when the war broke out.

Bono, as lovely as he is, isn't fit.

I like their music video of "All I want is you" very much.
But it has a confusing ending.
Who is dead and burried, the dwarf or the beautiful woman?

'And you know it's time to go. Through the sleet and driving snow. Across the fields of mourning to a light that's in the distance......' This was the moment i became a U2-fan.
Already liked them in the beginning, but with the release of the Unforgettable Fire there was no way back for me. Was incredible fascinated by the beauty of this album. Lyrics are like poems and the music is heavenly. It's still my fave of them. Like Achtung Baby very much and Zooropa. Yet for somehow reason i thought they'd come back one day. At least i was hoping they would. But they didn't. Now, to me, they're just another rockband . At least the music is. 'How to dismantle an atomic bomb' is a 'silent' witness of the continuation of Bono's mission.

i just recently discovered U2, i know they have been around for a long time but im not really into that whole rock and roll kinda music. The song which got me hooked was 'a beatuiful day' then after that i just kept hearing bout them everywhere......................i brought that album and i love it but i loveeeeeeee 'how to dismantle and atomic bomb'.............they have such passion for their music and their lyrics are so deep and powerful!! Its a shame i didn't discover them earlier b4!

God I love U2

've heard how to dismantle...........The music is not as brilliant as it has been once, but to say it is just another rockalbum.......nah........Must admit there's lots of power in the music. The album is great.

I had to say something on this board about the filming of City Of Blinding Light in Vancouver,BC. Vancouver knows how to rock and Bono and the guys made a house of 3500 sound like a packed arena during every take and in between! We were also treated to three bonus songs after shooting wrapped, and I was so moved by the song Bono wrote for his Father. They are an amazing group of extremely talented fellows whose music will live forever.

another tour that i will miss :(

>>By fragile_vox   (Monday, 16 May 2005 10:54)

I just saw them last Thursday, and it was the best concert I've been to. Bono did everything. He played guitar, drums, and sang extremely well.

>>By GetTheLedOut   (Wednesday, 18 May 2005 00:09)

I've read and heard some comments about the new U2album which probably will be released around the month of november this year. And, shit, they still know how to get me curious.
If the information is correct the new album, produced by Daniel Lanois, Steve Lillywhite and Brian Eno, should be a mixture of hardcore, techno and heavy metal.
'......how long will we sing this song' as Bono ended each concert in the eighties. Hm, that song seems to be sung now. Yet i'm curious.

>>By Sanvean   (Thursday, 7 Aug 2008 19:43)

Doesn't this self-righteous reputation that 'Bono' has, distract so very much though?

>>By nonyeb   (Saturday, 9 Aug 2008 11:07)

Yeah, you're right. Once Bono was really sincere for the belief in his 'mission'. And it started in the end of the eighties, his selfpromoting. But self or nonself: he always put big effort for benefit causes. And still he does, all for more peace. So if i'm correct informed about the new cd then indeed i wonder what's going on in his mind, what he's up to.
So i'm really really curious. I like metal and all kinds of hardcore...no problem, but i can not imagine any forms of peace or love in that style. But we will see.
