Discussion: Tv On The Radio

No wonder why they won the Shortlist Prize this year...I can't find the words to describe this music, I recommend it though...

If you like a unique vocalist (actually 2 of them) then give this a listen. Unique hooks and catchy progressions lodge their songs firmly in your head. Slow and rythmic to start, with overwhelming vocals, build to a casual intesity - if there is such a thing. If you have listened to Junior Boys or perhaps wanted a darker take on Broken Social Scene, maybe this will work. Notable songs include "Staring at the Sun" and "Young Liars".

Cheers.

Any news from Europe on Return To Cookie Mountain?
Unfortunately, it won't be out until August in the US.
I've listened to their new song with David Bowie and a couple of other very good tunes, but how's the rest of the album?

What a bizarre thing...."TV on the radio" used to be the catchphrase of BBC radios ' "Rock DJ" Tommy Vance whose show I remember listening to avidly as kid on Friday nights, keeping the volume down so as not to disturb my parents, and trying to keep awake til midnight after a long week writing on slate at school or working as a chimney sweep (OK, OK..... part of that might be a bit fanciful ;) )

It's been recieved quite well so far by music reviews:

"Maybe that's why this album has such an incredible pull: It doesn't make an atmosphere so much as a space to spend time in, and Adebimpe doesn't become a narrator so much as a witness."

And given a 9 out of 10. But it will never be heard on any radio station here. Is that good or bad?
