When it comes to talk about Tool and its music I can say nothing but - their music is fabulous, hemmed with some kind of mysterious sounds and words that are embedded in my mind so that I will never forget about it. and "sic " sucks

I just tought about TOOL a couple a days ago and I came to a conclusion that they can really lift your spirit if you listen to what they suggest. I don't like those junkies who are so amazed with the band and they drugs like they caught god's balls...

>>By aaa   (Thursday, 2 Jan 2003 22:47)

Maynard owns you all. TOOL = A BEAUTIFUL SCIENCE & BAND

>>By 4 Degrees   (Friday, 3 Jan 2003 17:54)

Like aaa said, if you listen to tool, whether u like them or not, u cannot say that they are not brilliant. Their lyrics are pure genius, coming from genuine intelligence and an inner self understanding and questioning that raises spirits and inquiries in the listener. Their music is just plain awesome. Their musical composition is beyond the normal breach of creativity, and most bands, if not every band, cannot compete. "Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion." -- how fucking brilliant is that. That is only one splendid line of great poetic writing in a mass of lyrics that has appeared on 4 cd's. i cannot conjure the adequate vocabulary to give tool the respect that they deserve. They are just friggin spectacular. Plus, they are not your mainstream, conformist band, nor is their material. They are unique, brilliant, independent, and unbelievable.

>>By schism   (Tuesday, 7 Jan 2003 23:33)

tool is fuckin awesome. i have never heard a better band in my life. the guitar riffs and everything about them are the best. maynard would stomp the small testicles of any other band out there today in a fight. and if you dont like tool, then suck my dick

>>By ismokepotufucker   (Sunday, 12 Jan 2003 22:33)

The thing I like about TOOL's music is that in all there songs they tell a kind of story. They dont repeat the same words over and over again like most of all the lame ass other bands.
They free your mind and expand your feelings twords everything. All I want to do is hang out with the band for one day. Also it would be cool if they would sing the song Eulogy at my funeral. I thing it would be awsome.

PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE!@!@!@

im a musician. our tool covers are our best shit.

>>By busy   (Thursday, 16 Jan 2003 19:55)

When I listen to Tool.... I get goosebumps and shivers across my skin. I close my eyes and actually feel the music inside my body and my mind.... the words are poetic brilliance... the instrumental aspect is overwhelming to think of how it was possibly concieved...and though I have never met them... I am absolutely intrigued by these individuals. Tool makes music .... about the music.. the art ...the emotional response to it... which became even that much clearer to me after seeing them in concert this past year. It was an absolutely orgasmic and penetrating experience for my mind, body and spirit.

>>By amber_mind   (Friday, 17 Jan 2003 04:33)

Tool is think is the best band ever...they have so much meaning behind their music and they all play the music as one...and it sounds fuking awesome...maynard has the smoothest voice...he can sound so good just barely singing and he can sound so good when he raises his voice...danny is the shit on the drums...who ever said tool sucks...can go eata fukin dick...you just dont understand them...i bet you're one of them fags that likes that screaming shit like mudvayne and slipknot and all them gay ass bands...if you want to talk about some shitty bands...ill talk about them...bcuz they are in fact...some shitty bands...well tool is the shit and no body can compare to them...i'm out...peace

>>By The Other One   (Sunday, 19 Jan 2003 02:21)

I have a wrench! That's a tool! :-)

>>By Rabbit   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 03:14)

To dislike a band as phenomenal and diverse as tool is complete ignorance. I'm all for respecting different opinions... but to dislike Tool is to not understand the most beautiful of art in this world. Tool is a band for people who are searching within themselves, seeking to grow and discover more about the mysteries of life, the self, and the universe. Perhaps some people who don't like would like them, if only they had the attention span to actually LISTEN to the music. Don't expect some typical metal band when you listen to Tool. They are not to be labelled, categorized, or even described by any Earthly language -- for they transcend all words to something which can only be FELT when listening to them.
Long live Maynard and the boys.

>>By Sorcerer's Apprentice   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 09:03)

tool is not music, it is an experience, it feeds your mind and body, it is perfect, not commercial but spiritual, philosophical, violent and smooth in the meantime... try it you' ll never get rid of it.

>>By french-jeremie   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 11:42)

Tools takes you on a journey... miles away from here. They´re cuttin edge. From hard strings to electronical loops... Formin our minds

>>By Monster   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 19:19)

As a person versed in music theory and musicology, I am alarmed
to see the expectations of modern music fall so low. Tool is one of
the bands currently taking advantage of the musical ignorance of the
world's youth. The rhythms, repeated seemingly endlessly, are robbed
of any effectiveness by the generic flat drum sounds and annoying
nasal guitar tones. And then there's the singer, even worse than the
singer from Radiohead. He whines out hateful diatribe about Jesus
Christ and other assorted preteen pressures and angst. You'd think
with all the money he's making, he could purchase some sessions
with a psychiatrist and sort out his head. He feels attacked by the
world for being a social deviant. Oh, let me pull out my violin.
Neil Young is a better whiner and singer than this guy. The drummer is
probably laughing all the way to the bank. In years past, Danny Carrey
had to work through a demanding career as a session musician, but now he
is getting a lot of money for doing very little. To get to the top you
have to sell out and he has. The other guys in the band, well, they
probably don't realize that they can't play very well. Fans have
stroked their egos to the point of creating gods out of them.

Tool are not gods. They are not great musicians. They have not
invented a new way to look at the world. They are just a bunch of
guys who know what will appeal to the musically weak minded.
If Tool is forming our minds, I shudder to think what kind of
intolerant religion-hating hitlers are going to crawl out of the
wood work. Tool will disappear like a bad dream if you stop
taking drugs. Wake up to reality: Tool is awful!

Just because someone you had a problem with happened to like Tool doesn't mean that the person had anything to do with the band. You seem like you are taking your aggression against that person out on the band and their fans. Do NOT insult those who listen (I don't come into your record store and knock the Limp Bizkit CD out of your hands), and don't down on lyrics that are obviously over your head. I am a music major with a minor in both theology and psychology, therefore I am aware of the many deep layers that each Tool song encompass, both musically and lyrically. I am not dogging your opinion, because everyone has their own. But when you start on your assault on others opinions (ie: MINE), and their personal taste in music........then you've just degraded yourself to the shitty level on which you seem to have placed the band and their fans. Thank you, and good night. You've been a great audience.

>>By Your_noitcelfeR   (Thursday, 30 Jan 2003 18:14)

Oh, and by the way.......the song you refer to as the Jesus-hating song (Opiate)...is sung from an crooked evangelists point of view...not from God's. Sober is sung from an alcoholic's POV, one which is destroyed by depression. Maynard even admitted to agreeing with Jesus's teachings on the rare live CD "Lachrymology" (which means 'therapy through weeping', in case it was another '5 dollar word' whose meaning eluded you') on track 10. So, in conclusion....don't run your ball-washer when there's nothing but assumption-based shit coming out..............damn, I need to take a breath.

>>By Your_noitcelfeR   (Thursday, 30 Jan 2003 18:20)

I personally think tool is most likely the greatest band. When i saw them in concert for the first time it was a truly spiritualy moving experience. They are incredible musicians. If anyone has any song interpretations, ,let me know.

peace, Nikki

if there were no rewards to reap, no loving embrace to see me through this tedious path i've chosen here, I certainly would have walked away by now.

>>By Nikki11254   (Sunday, 2 Feb 2003 05:53)

Tool cannot be compared, with the first listen you know you've got something special, only when you dig deeper can you truly acknowledge their brilliance. Not meaning to sound gay but I like to compare Tool to the great classical musicians, as they really are that special. If I can ever give anyone some advice in expanding their music collection- it would be simple buy ALL thier albums then buy a perfect circle. Job done.
