I agree with Pete C that they set the standards of a hudge number of bands following them. Even today in 2003 we here the influence of the Ruts in all levels of Rock,... You young generations, listen to the Ruts and you'll hear what I mean. The rich, fat sound of a 4 headed band. No other band comes near. By far. A dedicated Ruts fan, from Belgium. I believe it was the New Music Express which ran their death notices together in the center section. Two different kinds of music, but both stand up well to the test of time. The Ruts were a kick ass kind of group and still remain one of my favorite bands to listen to while drinking.
