| Discussion: Jesus And Mary Chain The Jesus and Mary Chain is the best band of all times. No other music comes close to what they did. It's warm, emotional, danceable, sweet, but on the other hand sometimes hard and loud .... Such a shame and enormous loss that they are no more :-( >>By kayanina the mary chain were to their generation what the velvet underground were to theirs : while not being HUGE saleswise, they were/are hugely influential. so many bands have copped the look, the attitude or the sound but the mary chain always had the mark of greatness that sets some bands apart from the rest. their tunes are so pure and perfect that they remain a benchmark even as the years pass. so good, in fact, that it doesn't even matter that most of the songs are written on the same three chords...there are whole worlds at work in the sheets of feedback that grace the records. as a friend told me when i was sixteen and first played him psychocandy - "these tunes would be really good if they didn't cover them with all that noise!" as it is they're better than really good, they're grrrrrrrrrreat!!! >>By captain feedback i love gesus >>By volcmlamusica the noise was a significant part of them. If PsychoCandy wouldn't have the ear-bleeding feedback the Jesus and Mary Chain wouldn't be that influential after all :P stripped down to the essentials the tunes would be great pop songs anyway.
