The Benjamins

Huzzah for The Benjamins. Talk about an enjoyable, catchy, fantastic band. Their break-up was disappointing, but I suspect the reuinion tours will tide over the fans pretty well. However, new material would just flat out rock. If you haven't heard them already, I suggest you hear them. (Big shocker there, right?) Sophia on the Stereo, Wonderful, or Couch are definitely some of my favorites.. Mmm.. great group. I'd sell my soul to the Benjamins! (Or would I... ?)

Its great to see that you have obviously enjoyed the Drive Thru Sampler but i beg you to listen closer to the actual album. Songs like "Dr. Frank Was Right", "Riverwest Creeps", "Weather is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful", and "Gave It Away" are masterful. These songs are more than just catchy. They actually use lead guitar playing that is quite tasteful all throughout the majority of their songs, and while the lead isnt difficult, it always fits just right--a key for songwriting, and a talent similar to that of Oasis. Dont forget the great lyrics with their strength, emotion, and hysterical irony--"Yesterday i loved you more than toast and less than a staple gun..." "And i dont give a fuck, who you fuck"... This band is simply incredible. My friend and i ration how much we play them because we are afraid that the high-pitched voice will get old and play out. Normally id hate this kinda of vocals, but in this case, not only does it fit, it gives a generally fun feel to some pretty serious music adding more to the irony of it all. This is the type of band that you dont just want to see live, but you want to be a part of, to understand their experience in writing and playing songs like this live. It was more than upsetting to hear they broke up, they were one of those bands who's catchy styles, strong ironical lyrics, and obvious passion for what they do while still exhibiting talent could have caught the world by storm.
