The Hollies are very close to the Beatles sound, I listen to albums of theirs with great pleasure. The one that starts with a song called Very Last Days. Marvelous stuff.

my dad was mad about the beatles, he died when I was 3, and now Ive got his albums, I love these guys, they seem so mellow and content and I cant help but feel good when I hear their songs

The Beatles are great but only really a stepping stone for some fantastic 60s bands like the (early) Stones, the Kinks and the Zombies.

re:spikee.. i have to disagree with that. the beatles have..had... a sound uniquilly their own. they are the only band that has a versatility sound that seperates them from all the others...all the other great bands have a distinct sound that one can pick up on......listen again, carefully..coca

They are the best band ever really. They probably influenced pretty much every band after them. They have such silly music, but such serious beautiful as well. You can't not like the beatles, they have something for everyone.

Just wanted to mention that today is the 42 anniversary of the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show....What a night....Thus marking the beginning of the second British Invasion !!! The rest is history !!!

Best popular band ever...... by some considerable distance. No other group, over a lifespan of similar length, has shown such a diversity & development in original music. And they have to have been so influential because everyone else was just waiting to see what they were going to come out with. Even films that they were involved with (A Hard Day's Night, Yellow Submarine) were innovative & influential. They just set the scene for most of the '60s & some considerable time thereafter. Everyone should be proud of them.

Ah, yeah,,, The most astounding thing about them is their half-a-century-ahead thrust whereas to their musical impact. Even to this day some new, brand new band comes up and actually does this or that, which directly boils down to the Fab Four initial fad.
