The Beatles were pioneers. They aren't the best band ever, but they were the ones that paved the road for all the other great bands.

The beatles are the best band on history. Their music quality never was equalized since today. I wonder if a band can be so good than The Beatles in the future. quite probably not. I think Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band is the best album ever made.

>>By Meliadus

what is there so special about the beatles....?....it's just another band....nomatter that a toleratable one....nothing special though...

>>By HY -

Definitely not Sgt.Pepper is not the best.I love beatles, they are my life, its style but no bitlomania though.I went to Hamburg just to see Keiserkeller, the club where they played,i've got pictures:)But i think that John Lennon became an idol just because he was shot, otherwise ppl wouldnt talk and admire him so.Take Paul,he's always been sincere, not John.

>>By Chriss

What!? John was not sincere? Did I get that right? Um....have you even listened to his first solo album ("Plastic Ono Band")? "I don't believe in Jesus....I don't believe in Elvis...I don't believe in Beatles?" How much more ballsy and sincere can you get? Who else would tell the people in the cheap seats to clap their hands and those in front "if you'll just rattle your jewelry." What a cheeky comment to make....to royals no less. Paul, no offense 'cause I love the Beatles, but, he was and is a bubblegum pop purveyor. He made safe music that didn't stir up any problems. I mean, have you heard his solo stuff? Ouch!

p-lz raize ur hand if ur like under 40 years old ... now dont be shy come on .... any1 ? is any 1 in this forum under 40 years old ..... oh well guess not

>>By Meo

Hi Meo.

Always remember. Wisdom comes with age. At least that's what I keep telling myself when I see the grey hair in the mirror. :-)

Love them or hate them, the Beatles were influential. In music certainly, but in culture too.

>>By Mikey_Canuck

As a matter of fact, Meo, I am under 40 years old. I'm 23 to be exact. Don't assume that just because we didn't grow up with the Beatles, that we can't be fans. I was born just 2 months before Lennon's murder, so I REALLY missed out on the whole thing, but what can I say.....great music transcends time and age. Oh, and just so you don't think I'm some "fan" who only knows the radio hits.....I own every single one of their albums (the British releases, that is....13 albums) plus the Past Masters Vol. 1 & 2. Quite a worthy investment, I must say.

>>By The Walrus

Over.....rated?...OVER RATED?! WHAT! how can someone even say those words about an....incredible band. over rated..never. Take some time and listen to their music. So many lessons. I love the beatles and always will. Rest in peace John and George, we all miss you.

Hi, all you Florkers...

The Beatles, whether you like them or not...were musical forerunners, in that they were the first "self-contained" band that not only played their own instruments, but wrote their own songs. The Beatles could rock, they could be mellow, psychedelic, loud, soft, what have you. In short, (I feel anyway) that the Beatles planted many "musical seeds" which other bands then developed. Case in point...Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra said he wanted to take the "cello" sound of "I am the Walrus" and develop that...and from hearing ELO's recordings, that is what resulted. Without the Beatles getting things started, perhaps, there would be no "alternative" or rock and roll scene...the originality of the Beatles convinced many other groups who followed, that they, too, could be original. I think that is the true legacy of the Beatles.

>>By cdadave

The beatles haven't had a big hit in ages.

>>By spikee

Maybe that's because two of them are dead.

>>By Jane

And the other one is a nudist.

>>By spikee

All you over-40s don't get my humour I can see. Paul released Let It Be.... Naked.

I like the Beatles

>>By spikee

I would imagine The Beatles are underrated... simply because they themselves were unaware of the significance of what they did. If they were, they'd never split that easily. Take any modern band in today's rock'and'roll and you'll find a clear trace of Beatles in their footage. To say I love'em is to say nix, I ADORE them. They unleashed this grand power of rock, they brought a meaning to life of so many a musician in this world. Take any album thereof and you'll go Wow!!!

>>By Vallerius

The scarecity of ads to this page only prooves it they are underrated, which is a great pity. Fab Four were the first band ever, who made music sound much more than just listening pleasure

>>By Vallerius

so very true! The Beatles rock !

>>By Jane

You know, what strikes me the most about this band? I just don't get how such lads could have come together within a band. This very fact taken sololy makes it a marvel, just think about it... You join a band where there is somebody like John or Paul.... To say nothing of George or Ringo...

>>By Vallerius

I'll tell you this: Try to put up a band these days and you'll see there's nobody coming even that close to somebody we knew as the Beatles...no way...no time for a miracle, alas

>>By Vallerius

No way to compare The Beatles with sheer one-day showbiz puppet of the Lavigne type. It is the truth that one doesn't need to be a musician to become a world star. Times are different and rules change as well, this time for the worse.

>>By Vallerius

Remember a line from Roger Mcguinn's song? - It's not the singer, it's the tune....

That much is true I think.

>>By Vallerius

The Beatles are just amazing...that's all there is to it.

>>By Jane

Consider for instance Paul's solo albums.... If there is music in heaven, this is how it sounds.

>>By Vallerius

In modern pop music, savvy ears know that the song rules. From this perspective, the Beatles ruled over all. No one will ever surpass their sheer quantity of quality tunes. Secondly, who will dispute the endless talent and authentic spirit of music-loving energy captured in their recorded performances?

>>By moso

As a matter of fact me and my band shall be performing a dozen of George's songs on 24 of February. I truly cherish this opportunity, the stuff is simply wonderful.

>>By Vallerius

I can tell you right now that The Beatles were truly influentual in my band. We actually performed 3 covers on The Beatles in our most recent concert, 2 days ago (Yellow Submarine, Hello, Goodbye and Hey Jude). They are truly the greatest band to have ever played, and will always be playing in someone's home in the world. They will never be forgotten.

>>By Urbane

Yeh, you're right: it's a very special thrill when you're able to offer your own vision of this great music. It won't wear out because take any song thereof and you'll see it really rocks!
