10. Cabin in the Woods
11. If I had a dollar
12. It's Not Happening
13. The Junkie Song
14. Ship Out On the Sea
15. Reuben
16. In Spite of All the Damage
17. In My Time of Dying
18. Midnight Moonlight

1 - 9 from BLUE HORSE (2001)
12 - 18 from CHINATOWN (2003)
both Nettwork Records

I stumble upon this while working in a second hand book store. Sometimes sample cds and one submitted to companies are in among loads of books bought. I put this away for several years with some others without playing. One last year, november, I was cleaning, so I listened to them to decide keep or throw away. We got these 'sample' free and it is a way to get cd cases free. I played this. I couldn't throw it away. Powerful, lyrical, human, funky music. It is the only thing I have of them. I have checked their site. Plan to buy everything.
I guess that this was to be a best of collection.

Jolie Holland founded the BGTs & I have her Catalpa album. She has a fairly distinct vocal style that maybe needs a few plays to get used to. Different, anyway.
