Discussion: Ten Years After

Does anyone remember this band, or Alvin Lee?

>>By JoLynn

Blimey, is this band now known to many at all?!
My first album purchases, bought in my mid-teens when these first came out, were TYA's Undead and Jethro Tull's This Was.
As you may guess from the title, the TYA item was a live album (Their studio material never seemed to get played anywhere. All their reputation seemed gig-based.)
One of the band was Welsh, i seem to remember. And the bassist enjoyed dressing in a cowboy style (not to sound 'fetischist'.)
Not a band with a lengthy career, clearly.

Love their music. I saw Alvin Lee (the guitarist for TYA) in concert 27 (!) years ago. Eeeee
I always used to blow out the speakers in my car when 'I'd love to change the world' would come on the radio. My other favorite song of theirs was ' Baby won't you let me rock'n'roll you' .

How about John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers?

Well, Mayall should have his own separate entry here. i guess.
Now gone 70, he still occasionally records & gigs , I think.
In recent years he's been made an MBE or CBE (Member/Commander of the British Empire.) A medal's included in this honour & recognition. (He got his for longstanding services to music of course.)

Good to know he's still going strong. Alvin Lee apparently is still touring also.
