wow. i can't get enough of this guy's music. after hearing one song, i went out and bought "seven swans" and "a sun came" and was thoroughly impressed. not only can he layer various genres and instruments, but his banjo playing (check out the danielson familie band) is great and his lyrics and delivery are both mysterious and emotional. MUSICAL GENIUS. but i'll stop now, cuz i could go on and on...i just couldn't believe he hadn't been mentioned yet! is anyone else a fan?

i actually had a guy from austin tx tell me i need to check him out...what does his stuff sound like?

i suppose if i had to categorize him, i would call him an experimental folk artist, but different albums have different sounds. i reccomend "seven swans" for something soft and beautiful, "a sun came" if you like irish folk music or experimental rock, and "michigan" is just a great album overall--check out the song, "the upper pennisula". his melodies and harmonies are just beautifully composed...another cool thing--the album "michigan" is the beginning of a project in which he will make an album for each of the fifty states. ambition is beautiful.

This is music that I can listen to with my parents, and they're enjoying it! Yayness! ;P

Not they, Him. Sufjan plays like a bazillion instruments because he is just that good. Seeing that I live in Michigan, Greetings from Michigan is my favorite Sufjan album... but I haven't heard them all... it could change.

I must admit, after hearing his music on the OC soundtrack I have quickly become an avid fan.

Has anyone bought the new album like I did? I've never heard anything like it, but I love every song on this album. I heard Rhode Island is next in line, would anyone happen to know about any info on this?
