This is not to say that Sparta is no good...far from it. While they may not be half as experimental and forward-thinking as The Mars Volta, or even pack the same emotional punch as At The Drive In, Sparta has something special. They take the idea of emotional rock music and fill their canvas with inspired guitar lines, angular subject matter and a dash of melody that will hook you instantly. Depending on which side of the band appeals to you- the more experimental and enigmatic side found on Wiretap Scars- or the more consistent, mature and melodic side found on Porcelain- there truly is something for everyone when it comes to Sparta. Don't hesitate to pick up both of their albums, you won't be disappointed...just don't expect At The Drive In reborn. >>By xx_timp_xx
