Maybe it is wise to stay away from the whole series they did on the label of Lee ronaldo, could be abit too much John Cage orientated for someone who is not familiar with the band. For the easier work, I would suggest Washing Machine, or experimental jet set. But if you wanna start with what is for ne their best period (and I guess also the most succesful) I would go with the 3 named above by Thom.

I would start with Dirty, as it still is their breakthrough album. At least for the big public.

goo is the starter, its where mr geffen ploughed money into the band and hey presto, goo is produced, some nice cameo appearances on this album.
dirty boots hasta be one of their best tunes
sayin this, check out a band called joy division...early 80s punk...brilliant

I'd like some feedback from people on Sonic Nurse. I found it one of their best ever and I didn't expect it

Lee Ranaldo is Dustin Hoffman, Steve Shelley is Harry Potter. Any idea about the others?

That fucker, thom, who does he think he is saying the SYR records are shit? They're at least as good as anything this band has ever recorded. Get your shit together man, just cause you don't get it doesn't mean it's shit!

Sonic Nurse is also one of my favorites. I was surprised it got such little notice. The beginning of The Dripping Dream is beautiful.

yes it is. but wasn't "rather ripped" a surprise? I actually prefer the second half of the record.Pink Steam evokes the same feeling of beauty as Schizophrenia.
