I first heard a lot of this stuff only recently at Earthcore '04, Victoria Australia, where Simon Posford played not one not two but three(!) sets under different projects/guises/collaborations of his (I still think his Hallucinogen set kind of broke my brain), then was I absolutely spoiled to again hear him play a Shpongle dj set at the afterparty at the end of the week. Early that night I looked around and hey, there's Raja Ram milling around the room as well. Well I'll be... Shpongled I guess. By the end of the set I still couldn't say I fully understood what had just occurred musically... but I know I liked it! Sooooo many sounds vying for my attention... I especially dig the rhythmic gating of vocals and chord progs that these guys obviously love using. Lovely stuff, I think this is a great way forward for electronic music. Hats off to Simon & Raj, you've done the world an immense favour in bringing us this music.
