OMG-I'm 14 and I love the Sex Pistols sooooo much!! Sid, I heart you so much I love you like more than Ice Cream, more than...well you get the pic. All of them were and still are super duper cool and Johnny Rotten is soooooooooooo hot (in1977) but Paul and Steve and Glen are too!!! I love them soooooooo much.

by god what has this world come too , 14 year olds loving the sex pistols , yes sex pistols were god fathers of "punk rock" but they didnt really believe in anarchy , they were manufactured rock just like good charlotte and all that other shity music . the pistols were in it for the money , they did everything they can to make more money , and they didnt even use to the money for a good cause but on drugs. the music it self is good but the politics in it dont make sence so you guys buy in to the fad and do what you want but i thin htye were a joke and thats my opinon .

w/o The Sex Pistols Punk would never be as popular as it is 2day. Thats the most I can say about them and its true. I mean 4get all the other bands The Sex Pistols are my favoret band. Punk did not start in the 70s. As concept has been around since the dawn of time. As far as "Punk Rock," that can be traced to some point in the 50s with people like Link Wray, and early/mid 60s with The Sonics, Question Mark and the Mysterians, MC5, and The Stooges. The Sex Pistols made their mark and had tremendous influence, but with their backing by fashion designers, along with their homophobic and generally unintelligent lyrics, it's hard to take them seriously. Bands like The Stooges, the MC5, and even the Buzzcocks, had much greater integrity and validity in the long run, and cause the Pistols to pale in significance. There have been tons of bands before and after the Sex Pistols that represent the punk spirit more fully. In 2003 the Pistols aren't worth much of anyone's time.

You missed something. Or several things. My post started off by saying punk didn't begin in the 70s. Didn't. Did Not.
I said nothing about punk being a waste of time. Since I devote about 95% of my life to punk rock, it'd be a pretty weird thing for me to say.
I said the Sex Pistols are a waste of time. They're not relevant today. There were many punk bands before and after the existance of the Sex Pistols, that have been much more interesting and important.
