Discussion: Scissor Sisters

Hey, the scissor sisters are damn good, using the styles of classic bands and artists like pink floyd and elton john, and making it sound 100 times better, theyre so unique and always new and exciting.

I saw them live at Homelands at the start of the summer, they rocked. My one complaint is that Ana Matronic is a pain in the ass, there is no need...

Well now Im allowed to post again I'll return to my original argument, they rock! And please dont ask me to take decisions based on the Conan show seriously!

They're good AND popular. That doesn't happen too often these days.

have only heard a few songs by them. commercial radio in this benighted land sucks. anyway, there is one song with great acoustic guitar driving it and falsetto singing. has a great hook. anybody help with name of song or latest album?

the scissor sisters are indeed a great band.good work 'max b' on catching the various influences.i respect people who can actually appreciate where musicians come from when it comes to composing.every musician was influenced by another, previous musician.bar none!!great music is the borrowing of other's styles and making it your own.e.g the beatles.tho they managed to borrow from styles that were completely obscured from the pop/rock of the day and managed to make it sound natural.choir music, bach, fairground rides, showband.but they are a different story altogether...they even managed to save classical music.fact!!!

I bought 'Ta-Dah' and like it more each time I listen to it.Being from New Orleans I can hear alot of the N.O. influence in both the music and lyrics.I wish famed record producer, Allen Toussaint could have produced one of the songs on this record.

They're terribly, well, how can I put it..."competent" aren't they? It's what I imagine you'd get if you asked some musical theatre graduates to play pop/rock music..sorta "Elton John at Disco" pastiche. For me they're a sort of "pleasant-enough" commodity but hey I can still buy Elton John, or The Meters, or Dr John CDs if I want something a little less "processed"! :)

Each to their own tho!

They are a damned good band, taking a lot of influences from different genres, throwing them into this boiling pot and bringing out this style of theirs which can hook you instantly. I've said this about Abba that they are a band everyone can enjoy to a certain extent and perhaps, this will be the same thing with Scissor Sisters.

Still haven't seen them live yet.

Just have the need to express, o my....they're on television now, live on a musicfest. in Holland named 'Pinkpop'........ They're just amazing ! Really had no idea what to expect from these guys. Thought they would be a 'onenightstand' in the charts. Still could be, but they definitely are musicians.

They did keep themselves afloat. I remember they played at Coachella, I didn't know much of them, and didn't expect to hear about them again, but here they are. They are interesting to pay attention to every so often.
