Sarah was an incomprable talent. I witnessed her singing birds, not only out of the trees, but out of the lake. My sister lives on a lake in Florida and we were cranking Sarah Vaughn so loud it floated out across the lake. There was a heron and some wood storks out fishing and I saw an Egret fly over head. He landed as well. Well, they all slowly began to make their way over towards my siters back yard, until they got only a few feet away. They did not continue to fish, but stood there, listening, mesmerized--as were we. It was if they were saying, "God, is Sarah back?"

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE" is a Michel LeGrande composition. Don't know if Sarah did it..but Jana Vaccaro did . Look on "CDbaby.com" under "jazz vocals" and click on Jana's name. Great job. Had the pleasure of meeting Sarah at the Riviera hotel in Las Vegas. Not only a great talent, but a very gracious lady. We've been fans ever since. We are looking for an album that Sarah recorded that includes VERSUS to many tunes. Havn't been able to find out the name of the album. Someone please help. Thanks.

There is truly no jazz vocalist that has the mastery of pitch and control as Sarah. As an aspiring jazz vocalist I am so impressed simply by musicianship. Her music is everywhere. I suggest that you go to Towers Records and search for the tune in question. They maybe able to locate the tune you are looking for. As for research, there is info everywhere about her. I suggest you look in library books that have a good African American studies section. That may help narrow information since she past away 13 years ago.

As a guitarist, I'm always on the lookout for fresh ways of approaching a jazz solo. Sarah has been an inspiration to me, as her improvisation style is such a fine balance of working within the boundries of tonality, meter and form, while at the same time stepping outside these boundries to wherever the music leads her.

Well, I'm no scholar on beautiful music. But I am terribly sad that this voice cannot sing anymore. I had hoped that she still lived. Alas, but I cried when I found this not to be true.
She will be remembered for centuries to come... Esthu 'Sass' Hou.
Sleep well sweet 'Sarah'.
