eyes like the clear blue sky reflected on river
giant hands wrapped fingers in hair/ no hair
a heart; tender and true? grasped lightly
ambiguity is our constant companion
we may not know what you mean but
we feel we may have been there.

I got this last record of him for my birthday.. I only knew one song of him until now, but this is one hell of a record.. I am in love with this voice, smoked and branded voice.. The lyrics I still haven't figured out, but they are genius. And the layered songstructure in the instruments, so nice that every instrument is not only distinguisable, but also has a function in the songs. If one sound would be gone, the song would be gone, but there is no need to put anything extra.. The sadness of the songs, the beauty of his voice, the melancholy... This is for me the perfect autumn cd.. did I believe that The Mars Volta did the best Cd of the year, I am sorry, I have to change my mind: Thanks Richard Buckner for cutting into my soul.. Hope the scar will stay........

By now, I have the rest too.. and man this is not an artist to miss in your collection when you like passion in music...

I have been a fan since his second album "Devotion + Doubt", which knocked me off my feet and is still my favorite. Another uncanny pairing is his "The Hill", which set one of my favorite works, "Spoon River Anthology" to music. Fantastic! I have seen him twice at a little bar in Buffalo and can tell you his is not to be missed live. Long may he live and prosper and prove there is a "market" for the independent artist.

His new record is great. He did a record together with Langford. It is defenatly superb. His voice is dark as always, and grabs one by the balls like you haven't heard anything like that ever before.... And ofcourse the lyrics are "happy" as ever......
