Oh yeah, I forgot about Arik Marshall... I'm not sure exactly when he was a Chili Pepper though. He played guitar.

I think it was just after John left.

To any fans of 'Bloodsugarsexmagic' check out "Traction" by N.Z. band SUPERGROOVE. You wont be dissapointed...Don't buy their 2nd album though.

>>By passanger   (Friday, 24 Sep 2004 10:51)

ok cool, i'll check it out, thanks passanger

Arik Marshall probably was right after Frusciante left... Probably right before Navarro was with 'em...

>>By Grazyl   (Saturday, 25 Sep 2004 02:18)

Yes yes, Marshall was just before Navarro.
I'm one CD away from having all of their albums!! Does anyone know where I can buy the Abbey Road EP? Online, perhaps...
<3 the Red Hots

>>By Bitch Fit   (Friday, 15 Oct 2004 21:06)

go to amazon.com...or ebay.....

>>By odnanref   (Friday, 15 Oct 2004 21:37)

Hmm, turns out the Abbey Road EP only had 5 tracks and these are all from the first 4 albums. Good tracks, but I'm not sure if it's worth buying something I alreay have, effectively. What else is worth getting (by the Red Hots) if you already haev all of the official albums? That is, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Freaky Styley, Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Mother's Milk, What Hits?!, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, One Hot Minute, Californication, By the Way and Greatest Hits... oh yeah and a copy of Out in LA.

>>By Bitch Fit   (Friday, 15 Oct 2004 22:32)

Start buying Flaming Lips albums, Bitch Fit.

I was at Hyde Park when they played there a few months back. Stunning. The atmosphere was perfect; I wished it could go on forever. Who'd have thought Flea sounded like Joe Pantoliano when he spoke?

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 16 Oct 2004 14:18)

Anyone who has heard Flea speak (like on one of the many movies he's in) and of course Joe Pantoliano - I have no idea who he is. Berate me for my ignorance if you will.
Uh, Flaming Lips - not too keen on them. But what's a good album?

>>By Bitch Fit   (Sunday, 17 Oct 2004 00:26)

In my order of preference:

1. Clouds Taste Metallic
2. Transmission From The Satellite Heart
3. The Soft Bulletin
4. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
5. Hit To Death In The Future Head
6. In A Priest Driven Ambulance

>>By spikee   (Sunday, 17 Oct 2004 03:12)

Joe Pantoliano was in the Matrix. He's the evil one who sounds just like Flea. ;)

i totally agree with Mrz Kiedis, although she was quite a lot to harsh... to be a true fan doesnt mean u have the greatest hits album and watch the video clips every now and then just to see how weird they are. u have 2 understand their music in different levels i think. theres what u hear and what u feel, their music is about both, the guitars and drums r what u hear, the lyrics are what u feel, i think that a true fan of red hot would have to understand the why's involved with their music and all that sorta stuff. One Hot Minute is my fave album of theirs!! i just love them & if anyone has info on their email addresses or something so that i can send them my appreciation of their music that would be really good :) anyway... visit my site... www.freewebs.com/tegangan
Love Tegan ( the red hot fan)

Yes One Hot Minute is definitely their best. I really hoped they'd play a song or two from it when I saw them. It's a shame they don't play their older stuff anymore. I mean it's great that they're moving on, but we all still love the funk :)

>>By Flagg   (Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:23)

i love the old stuff... if you want me to stay for example, behind the sun, pea.. could go on forever. kind of difficult to decide, which is the best album. one hot minute maybe? blood s s m?

beside the music, i think they've got an interesting and fascinating story, especially j.f.

i'd have loved to go to a concert in the 80ties, but well... i wasn't even born...

hm.. that they're moving on may be natural, but in my opinion, they're not really getting better.. by the way is a nice album, but a bit boring after some time.. maybe they should stop, before they are really old and only a joke of what they were before...

>>By alibabi   (Sunday, 17 Jul 2005 22:17)

Im with Flagg, One Hot Minute is definitely the best, with BLood Sugar Sex Magik a close second. I definitely miss teh funk, but wouldnt go so far as to call their new stuff a joke. By the way has some great stuff - dont forget me, minor thing, venice queen, all go on my list of favorite all time rhcp songs. I think one hot minute is better just becuase its more stylistically varied. Blood Sugar sex magik is really only 2 styles, which are both excellent, but I like variety.

>>By snoockerdoodle   (Friday, 22 Jul 2005 06:04)

Absolutely. About By The Way, it's unavoidable that it's gonna lose them fans, and if you don't like it that's fine, but it's not fair for people to think they've betrayed you since they were never working for their fans in the first place. Like any good band, they do what they want and don't worry about fans' reactions. So if they're bored of funk and want to change their style, good for them.

Anyway they're more popular now than they've ever been.

>>By Flagg   (Friday, 22 Jul 2005 12:03)

I'm not trying to be controversial or anything but I really think Hot Minute isn't a very good record. The fact that Frusciante isn't on it has a lot to do with it. He's the genius behind the band. And I actually think that their latter work, the less funky stuff, is much better than the older stuff, but one man's meat is another man's poison, right?

>>By thom   (Tuesday, 26 Jul 2005 23:22)

Frusciante isn't the genius behind the band, he's a contributor. All of them are genius', and think about it, as Kiedis and Flea are the only two original members, perhaps they are the ultimate genius' of the band?

>>By Bitch Fit   (Sunday, 31 Jul 2005 22:14)

Got no bother bout who's genius or not. I think tha whole band is awesome. Saw them (like most of us probably) on Live Earth Alert and i find them awesome. Also i recently there was this docu on the television bout the band and about the drugaddiction of the guitarplayer ( Frusciante? I don't know) and the way he got clean with support of the band. And i know so little of the peppers.....what a waste.
And i just love the charisma of Flea. Some bassplayer he is. So mature when you hear him talk, but seeing him play is like watching a madman sometimes, losing himself into the music. Perfect band.
Bsides: allthough i know just a few songs my fave (so far) is definitly 'Road trippin'. Really get carried away by that one.

Blood Sugar has always been the classic album that turned them into superstars. But I didn't get into them until Californication the album (and the title song was perfect for me at the time). I didn't buy By The Way for some reason. But I got Stadium Arcadium and I think it's even better than Californication. Both Cali and Stadium have fillers- but I created my own playlist of my favorite songs both these albums and I can listen to it over and over forever.

Pure showbiz.
I luv 'em!

>>By nonyeb   (Monday, 17 Aug 2009 09:07)

they are just awesome....

>>By alex_alex   (Wednesday, 16 Sep 2009 13:20)

Obviously one of the greats.
Epic and rocking

I was jusssst about to see them in NY but Hurricane Irene deterred the Long Beach City council from allowing musicians to perform at the first Long Beach NY Surf Tournament.

Screw that!! Let the music live
