Their songs get on my nerves and I don't even like the singers voice...

>>By Peter Punk

i agree with HY they are exellent but if i listen to them to long they start to annoy me as well

>>By therion

yeah, well....too much a good thing...nonetheless, they are very very good.

My band...great band. I reckon the only band that would ever rich their level is the one that's got Chester Bennington(Linkin Park lead singer), Fred Durst, Pierre Bouvier (Blink 182 lead singer) and Jason Wade (Lifehouse lead singer). The Drummer would be Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil. Guitar by Raoul from Cutting Jade and B.B. King on the base.

I love californication. Their other songs are good to but that has to be the best.

Can't Stop has the best bass line and of course the bass is the best part of RHCP. The vocals are awesome too - so much rhyming! And the lyrics are really really clever. Awesome songs are Scar Tissue, Fortune Faded, Californication, By the Way, Can't Stop, Zephyr Song, Throw Away Your Television and The Other Side. I prefer their newer stuff, but it's pretty much all good. Hmm, Under the Bridge is quite good too. Overall they're a really awesome band. And they've improved.

i love all of their stuff...theyre the kind of very very rare band that gets better as they get older... flea is a crazy bassist (crazy in a good way) i love his style and all of his signature movements in his bass playing... does he have a daughter?

>>By idontknowdotcom23

Actually most bands get better as they get older because the more they practice, the better musicians they become. RHCP just don't get more boring over time. Their style develops. Unlike HIM, who play the same stuff over and over again...

>>By Sk8a H8a

Yeah, someone once said that it doesn't matter if you've sold 5 million albums, that doesn't justify it as being 'successful'...a successful album is an album that sounds completely different from the last....i couldn't agree more...i think that's what seperates all the great bands from the regular bands...each RHCP album sounds different from the rest...which is why they have been able to have such a long career...unlike most bands when all their albums sound the same...people just get tired of them and start listening to something else...example: Guns 'n' Roses.....in order to be successful (i believe) you need to re-invent urself and ur music...which most bands dont know how to do...

>>By odnanref

The trick is just to come up with lots of new ideas instead of getting your inspiration from your old songs. I found myself yesterday recording a song totally from samples and it's cool. It's just an example of how changing your style will keep you interesting...

>>By Sk8a H8a

When I say samples, I don't mean my own stuff. I mean that I've never really used sampling before, which is why it's a change in style for me.

I've only just got into the Chili Peppers - I have What Hits!?, One Hot Minute, Californication and One Hot Minute, as well as a copy of By the Way. Which album should I consider getting next?

>>By Flake 1.6

get Blood Sugar Sex Magik, its my favorite chili album at the moment :)

>>By idontknowdotcom23

I was thinking of one of the older ones like Mother's Milk or Freaky Styley, but if you say Blood Sugar Sex Magik, okaeey.

>>By Flake 1.6

:) whatever, they're all amazing albums

>>By idontknowdotcom23

I got Red Hot Chili Peppers, Freaky Styley and Mother's Milk today. They were cheap! (:

>>By Sk8a H8a

>>By idontknowdotcom23

I love the chili peppers!!!! Anthony Keidis is hot, and so is John!! yeah.

>>By guitargirl

Hmmm... I have and always will love the RHCP... I own the Greatest Hits... And it really is the GREATEST... To me... Flea is the best abnd member... And the best Bassist... I really look up to him... Cause I also play Bass...

>>By Grazyl

I've got all the albums now except Out in LA, the Abbey Road EP and By the Way. Also I can't find the CD that has Fortune Faded and Save the Population on it (no, I'm not talking about the Greatest Hits). Does anybody know where I could find that? And which album should I get next? I have a copy of By the Way but it is my favourite album by them so I must buy it sooner or later...
idontknowdotcom23: Flea does indeed have a daughter. She's about 14, I think... don't quote me on that; it's just a guess.
I think all the members are really cool - Flea is probably the best bassist in the world, Anthony's lyrics and singing are really awesome, John's guitar-playing is something REALLY special and Chad is one Hell of a drummer.
I really like the way Anthony's vocal style has developed over the years. Listen to him on "Out in LA", their oldest song, compared to "I Could Die for you" on By the Way or even "Californication". He's changed so much, but his voice is still recognisable. That's just pure brilliance. I think he has improved a singer quite a lot...
Flea has always been a great bassist, but I love the differences in bass lines in each song. Doesn't anyone think "Catholic School Girls Rule" (Freaky Styley/What Hits!?) sounds a bit like "Suck my Kiss" (Blood Sugar Sex Magik/Greatest Hits)? I prefer "Catholic School Girls Rule" anyway.
It's hard to believe that Chad has gotten any better since he joined the Chili Peppers - he was already awesome. But I say he has. Just listen to "Otherside" (Californication). That's my favourite song by the Chili Peppers.
John's a great guitarist and he plays it in a way I've never heard from any other guitarist. IT's the way all instruments should be played... He left the band in between Blood Sugar and Californication - One Hot Minute is a lovely album, though, with Dave Navarro.
Actually, the only album I haven't been obsessed with is Uplift Mofo Party Plan. It's great as an album, but there aren't so many songs on there I feel in love with. "Me and my Friends" (interesting how there's also a song called "My Friends" on One Hot Minute) and "Behind the Sun" are the only songs from that album I think are truly excellent, and I don't actually like "Behind the Sun" that much; I just appreciate it's musical excellence. It's quite amusing that Uplift is the only album with the original Chili Pepper line-up.
Flea and Anthony have always been in the band, but they've had 3 drummers and 4 guitarists. Jack Irons was the original drummer - in the first two albums he was replaced by Cliff Martinez but he rejoined them for Uplift. Chad Smith has played on the last 5 albums. Hillel Slovak (a moment's silence to commemorate his life...) also left at the same time as Jack, to be replaced by Jack Sherman, but returned for Freaky Styley and Uplift. After his death, they got John Frusciante who is on Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication and By the Way. He temporarily left because they were getting too famous and Dave Navarro played on One Hot Minute (that album sounds so different from all of the others) and came back afterwards.
I truly believe that the Chili Peppers are the best band in the world - that is a matter of opinion and there's not much point arguing with me about it. I also say they're the most famous band that are still around today. That point is arguable.
