Sorry but I'll disagree. I like him as a producer, in fact his production is often a reason to buy a record, but I never liked him as a musician, particularly with rapeman.I actually owned the record and took it back to the second hand shop.Never regreted it.

bad idea. if you had the original record.... very rare.... you kind of contradicted yourself.... you said "I like him as a producer, in fact his production is often a reason to buy a record,".... the guy produces his own records..... wouldn't that be a reason to have it....... one of the guys from the Jesus Lizard plays on the album. so if you don't like them, i could see why it wasn't your flavor. what do you like that he has produced? .....and please don't say Nirvana.... don't dig yourself a deeper grave..... everyone on this site can't all be mainstream fanatics.

I think it was the original record. It was one with some "cut here" dotted lines on the cover so that if you did you could see the inner sleeve. Was it on Blast First? I think so. I know he produces his own records I just don't like his music. No, I never liked the Jesus Lizard."Down" was another record that ended up in the second hand store. I have a particular affection for Nina Nastasia's records on which Albini did a great job and another favourite is "Jet Lag" by Bocomolech.I also adore "Pod" by the Breeders. And what about PJ Harvey's "Rid Of Me" ? Or "Surfer Rosa"? Just great! His specialty is getting a really good drum sound I think. Actually now that you mentioned it "in Utero" sounds pretty good too.

the bass player for the Jesus Lizard plays on the Rapeman records. i didn't like Jesus Lizard at first either. i had to listen to the album about three or four times before i got it. but you should give them another chance. check out Goat, probably one of their best records. i don't think albini had anything to do with that one, but he did do some work on a couple of their other records.... i really think the work he did on "in utero" was the worst ever, but i don't care cause i'm not a big nirvana fan anyways. god that record is terrible,.... it proved that nirvana really wasn't that good to begin with. (i'll probably get hell for that statement cause everyone likes nirvana but me)........ anyways,... not very many people have even heard of rapeman. but it is a well sought out record and many people praise their albums. but then again you can't please everyone.
