Discussion: Pretenders

i wanna know more about pretenders

>>By gisasmith

Hm......, not that much for the pretenders over here. Must admit they've never been that productive on their music, yet i like them, and especially in the beginning. Though Chrissie's first 2 albums combine rockmusic with pop and punk the music sounds quite smoothy. The death of the guitarplayer James Honeyman Scott brought their 'punkpart' to an end after the second album. Their sound embraced the smooth and didn't change ever since ( exept the album ''Viva el amor !"). Nevertheless i like their soft works. Chrissie's got a great voice, a warm voice, that rocks you to the peaceful places in your mind.

I have bonded with Chrissie Hinde in one song, "Hymn to Her" -- I can relate to the lyrics of this particular song..."let me inside you...into your room...i've heard its filled with the things you don't show...she will always carry on..." seems to describe my life....both with and without Steven.

brass in pocket still hits the spot for me! james honeyman scott had a beautifully understated way with guitar parts - a sad loss.

That Chrissie Hinde can really sing....her lyrics...her movement......I don't even remember who else was in the band....Her lyrics would grab you and floor you...stuff like "...all of us are in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars.." incredible singer and person....She just ROCKS!!!
