Portishead

When God shaped the heaven and earth, he/she/it was listening to Portishead. Or at least when he did the me part.

Pedistal is my fav. I guess what I really want to say is that I have years of happy memories while listening to Portishead. They always remind me of the girl who first played them for me, too. More importantly though, they have some of the richest effects for the organs and basses and vocals. The cherry is their lyrics even though I cant understand some of them. no time, make a reason ridicule breathes a sigh. Ahhh, I'm gonna go listen to them now.

For real, ive been listening to this band for about 8 year now, their sound is just precise for those moments that you want to be alone, or maybe depressed. Their sound is yust a work of art, is is clear that what they produce is intended, and caerfully mixed.

Definetly, portishead is one of a kind band, hope to see more of the, and their deep low beat, soound!

Dude, These guys are briliant! when I was a 9 year old kid, I heard them and fell in love with the eerie sound and strong lyrics. I listen to everything, from Punk Rock to Classical. I love music soooooo much!!! and Portishead brings me peace in a dark world. I wish Ther were more groups like these Dudes. Peace to all.

if you people all like her try out these bands- sneaker pimps, snake river conspiracy, tapping the vein, lacuna coil, st. eve, etc. these are just a couple of bands that have the most awsome girl singers.

For all of you Portishead fans, check out "Out Of Season" by Beth Gibbosn and Rustin Man. rustin Man is Paul Webb from Talk Talk, a wonderful band from the 1980's. This is a collaboration between the two of them, but is listed as a Beth Gibbons solo album. It is absolutely GORGEOUS! It is very much in the style of Portishead, but a quieter sound overall. Talk Talk made a brilliant album called "Sprit Of Eden" that can easily be seen as influential to Portishead. It is a very quietly melodic and atmospheric album adding ambient qualities with vocals. On "Out Of Season", the songs 'Mysteries', 'Tom The Model', and 'Sand River' are excellent tracks that are like Portishead mixed with Talk Talk. And on 'Romance' Beth does a wicked impression of Earth Kitt.

Anyone who has not listened to Portishead can not truly state that any other artist is the greatest in any one field because simply, this is music from heaven.

IF I AM A LESBIAN I WILL CHOOSE BETH .SHE IS REALLY MY TYPE.
IF I HAVE ONLY ONE OPTION BEFORE I DIE I WILL CHOOSE THE SOUND "OVER"
LOVE IS A SOLO IN LIFE NOT A CHORD.

I saw Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man at Summerset House just over a year ago. It was the first concert I ever went to and one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I can't remember a time when there was such a lack of anything negative. That's about the best way I can put it.

And I'm in love with Beth Gibbons...

definitely one of my favorite bands. speaking as a musician, i think they not only have one of the most unique sounds ever, but beth gibbons is an incredible songwriter. "out of season" is a wonderful album. if only the radio would play music like this instead of all that bullshit.

I remember talking to a girl once who I thought said to me she liked Portishead. I asked her what Portishead songs she liked, and she replied "Who? I said Horse Head!"

>>By spikee   (Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 04:29)

I have to say that Portishead's lyrics speak to me so profoundly that its scary. Every emotion and lyrics expressed from their songs are exactly what I have felt, or that I am feeling now about love and relationships. Purely amazing.

I'm listening to their self-titled album again for the first time in ages. Half-Day Closing and Cowboys are perfect, just perfect.

I heard a rumour a few months ago that they're gonna get back together and do another album. Haven't heard more about it since. I live in hope!
