Discussion: P.J. Harvey

Pages: 1 2
Anybody else heard the rumours? She played a gig on Friday in London where she announced it to be her final. She didn't say anything about releasing records but she said she'll never play another show. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>By thom

Apparently the story is also on NME's website. It wasn't London but Paris.Does it reallty matter?

>>By thom

I read about this. What she actually said was this is the last show WE will play, meaning her and that band she was touring with. NME apparently twisted these words to make their rather crappy magazine a bit more interesting. I don't think Polly's going anywhere.

PJ Harvey is great.

I want her.

;)

>>By Flagg

You'd better focus on the kids of mothers of her age, since they are most likely more near your age.
The first time I saw her live you must have been 3.

>>By Joris Spikkelaar

Hey age doesn't matter. I'm in love, and still will be when she's ninety. :D

>>By Flagg

I hope you locve her for her music... Think she, nor any other artist is waiting for some perverted teen love, because they just make great music....

>>By Campking

Hey I'm not a stalker. I don't have any illusions. Yes I love her for her music, but I really decided that when I saw her live. She just gave off such an aura of energy and.... it's pretty hard to explain. But teenagers are *supposed* to feel like this about their favourite artists, or at least it's normal. I object to the use of the term 'perverted teen love'.

>>By Flagg

I know where you're coming from Flagg. I got an erection when I realised that Sheryl Crow used the word "dick" in one of the songs off Tuesday Night Music Club. I was, I think, 12.

>>By spikee

lol, ok, i came here Flagg, i like her too, i think i saw, or heard her rather, live once, and she was good, if it was her ...
and, yeah, i dont like the 'perverted teen love' term either >:(

>>By nite nite

combined, your feelings for trent reznor and mine for pj harvey can defeat these fascist would-be suppressors of free love.

>>By Flagg

Fine! Nobody wants to discuss my erection......

>>By spikee

Well I'm just not into Sheryl Crow, that's all.

Let's talk about 'The Letter'. On second thought, that might not be wise...

>>By Flagg

When I was a teen, which is not as long ago as it now sounds, I already related to this as being perveted teen love. The girls loving dEus and then totally melt only when they would see the bassplayer. This while if he hadn't been in that band they would have just seen him as a skinny boy.
I am sorry, but I have always obhected against this love thing. You love someone for the music, that should be it. And actually I can related to the erection. But that;s the power of word.

When I was 16 I wanted my girlfriend to be like the singer of Bettie Serveert, but I didn't go around shouting I was in love with Carol, for I wasn't. She just looks fine (still does), but I didn't know who she was, but I nice looking woman that was defenatly out of my league.

That's different then having wet dreams over an artist, an icon you will never know or tough in real life..........

>>By Campking

Campking, there's nothing wrong with falling in love with your musical idol. Lighten up.

>>By Flagg

I mean, you're acting as though I said 'I love PJ Harvey and she loves me and one day we'll be married and live happily forever and ever because when you share a bond as strong as mine and Polly's it means you live forever!!'

I said 'I want her'. It's normal. In fact I'm glad I feel this way about PJ Harvey rather than the latest wave of skinny, plasticcy supermodels/popstars splattered all over every tv channel.

>>By Flagg

yeah, Flaggs rite.
just coz he said that he wants her is no reason to get your nose all bent out of shape.
if ppl didnt get the 'perverted teen love', as you put it, them they wouldnt get as much money as they do, you tent to buy more of something the more you like it.
i know that i liked NIN for a long time, and then when i saw what a hotty Trent was, i sure as hell was on the look-out a whole lot more for his stuff.

>>By nite nite

But probably you both will be all over somebody saying that she wants Joel of Good Charlotte. But ofcourse then it would be a different story.

I am quite sure that if neither PJ Harvey nor Trent reznor had made music, the both of you would have passed them by on the street without even noticing him or her.

So don't be so hypocrite.

>>By Campking

Campking what do you mean 'But probably you both will be all over somebody saying that she wants Joel of Good Charlotte. But ofcourse then it would be a different story. '
do you mean we would be all over them saying it was bad?
i think everyone has his or her own veiw on things, and coz i dont know which one jole is, i cant say how i would act ...

and im also sure that if PJ or Trent hadnt gone into music they could walk past me and i wouldnt pay them much notic, but but dont go thinking that i wouldnt think they were hot, and ahve a few look backe, and talk bout them with my m8s.

and how have either of us been a hypocrite?

>>By nite nite

I never said I like PJ Harvey for anything apart from her music. You seem to think we're calling ourselves fans of these artists just because they're attractive. In fact, if PJ Harvey wasn't one of my favourite artists I don't think I'd find her that attractive.

>>By Flagg

In fact, if PJ Harvey wasn't one of my favourite artists I don't think I'd find her that attractive.

And that's precisly what I was saying. U only start noticing her and thinking she is attractive because you like the music, while her being attractive shouldn't matter at all!

>>By Campking

No, but it does once I realise I like her that much. There's nothing, *nothing* wrong with it. I'm glad I'm attracted to someone I really feel is so enormously talented, and not to someone who is *only* attractive.

>>By Flagg

These 4-track demos are amazing!

>>By Flagg

When you are refering to the record from 1993, you are right. The whole reason for her to get them to press anyway, was that she believed that in the end the initial 4T recordings came out better then the studio recordings that ended up on the album (Rid of me, if I am not mistaken). So to give us the impression of how the songs were ment in the first place she decided to give the 4T recordings a press.
And I must say, I am happy she did...............................

>>By Campking

Yeah I heard that too, and I think several of the tracks on there are better than the final versions on Rid of Me. And some like M-Bike and Driving really should've been on the album 'cos they're brilliant.

>>By Flagg

If we only knew how many great songs don't reach the final album, just because they don't fit in the concept of the record or there is to little space.
I guess it would drive me crazy................

If I weren't already.

>>By Campking

pj herself is enough to drive me crazy ;)

>>By Flagg

simply love the duet she had made with nick cave "henry lee"

keep giving me goose bumps after i've heard it
