of the best most underated cd of all time. There will never be another nick drake ever. It
is a shame that very few have heard of drake and his works should be heard by all

I'll say something significant about Nick Drake. He was among a handful of writers who were able to transfer great perplexed sadness and pain along with subtle snapshots of people into verse that didn't overflow with contrite or blatant sulking. His songs were poetic often, but moreso I believe that they were so often a very original form of songwriting that conveyed more with less lines, less said, than virtually anyone else writing at the time or since. Just read over (or sing) the words to 'Pink Moon': "Saw it written and I saw it say, pink moon is on its way. None of you will stand so tall, pink moon is gonna get ye all. And it's a pink moon." His melodies were also subtle, but beautiful. His guitar work was understated but great, and hard to recreate. He was a singluar talent and person who wrote songs like few others have. I believe that 'Saturday Sun', 'Time Has Told Me', and 'Which Will' are my favorites. Drake's songs don't make me depressed or sad really. I get depressed by crap, garbage, and the fact that SO MUCH OF IT is so popular in every artistic medium. Nick was beyond all that both artistically and spiritually. "Time has told me, not to ask for more. For one day our ocean, will find its shore." 'Nuff said.

Precisly, nuff said. too bad that people like Nick DRake always stay unknown to the big public, and are only reached by a small number of music lovers. Most of whom embrace him with all they have. Even thpough the Levi commercial must gave him some more popularity, he still only gets the respect he deserves from a very small number of music lovers... And he certainly deserves that respect...

Sorry to say it, but I think his exclusivity has made him a bit overrated. Indeed he was a good singersongwriter, but defenatly not the hero that loads of indie fans are making him lately. His approach of music was nice, and fresh, but when I listen to it now, it feels abit dated to me. Good, but dated.

I did not just discover him, I have liked him for 30 years, and he does not sound at all dated to me. Does Jimi Hendrix sound dated? I think not. Like Hendrix, Nick Drake was one of a kind, there was no one to pass torch to, and we will never see his like again, as he said in "Fruit Tree".

Yes, Jimi Hendrix sounds dated. Don't read me wrong, I both Love Nick drake and Jimi Hendrix, but as counts for both of them, what they did could be done because of the time they were in. If anyone would play Jimi hendrix in these days, you would also say that he was 35 years too late, even though it sounds as great as Jimi Hendix does......

most of the music today is dated as soon as it hits your ears, it is also very derivative, and about as original and unique as tattoos-this "generations" different sameness. Nick Drake, on the other hand, is nonpareil-it is amazing what he accomplished in his short life-would that we all could leave such an indelible legacy whatever our lifespan!

i cant tell anyone what they should or shouldnt connect to, what speaks to them, who their heroes should be, etc, but i can say with utmost certainty that the music recorded by nick drake has been dear to me a good portion of my life... its a shame how soon he was gone, and i suppose its a shame that he was relatively unknown during his life, though he sort of did it to himself from what has been written, but regardless of popularity the music doesnt become any more or less significant to me, its some of the most special music in my collection and will be, but thats just me, he couldve written those songs just for me and no one would know of him but i'd still find comfort and inspiration within each track

I can't say I really *connect* with his music but it's very lovely.
