I got the Dolls first album on 8 track in '74 and I still love it every time I hear it. I've got it on CD now. Fantastic sloppy, slammin, toungue - in - cheek rock n roll at it's best.

I don't know why, but I've just gotten into the Dolls. I'm 37 years old, been into punk rock since I was about 14 or 15, yet never got into either the Dolls or The Heartbreakers or any of THunders' solo stuff until about a month ago, when I was in a local cd shop I decided to buy a Thunders anthology and the first Dolls album. Well, that was it, I've since gotten 3 more Thunders cd's, including a 2cd/dvd box set called Eve Of Destruction, and 4 more Dolls cd's, all excellent. Kick ass sloppy rockin' stoned up toonidge, man, it's the greatest. I just don't know how I missed 'em for all of these years?????? R.I.P. Billy Murcia, Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan, Arthur "Killer" Kane(he just passed on July 14, '04). The Dolls will live on forever.

campking, mentioned the Dolls and got it wrong, they didn't form in 69, The Stooges released their first album in 69, but the Dolls, no, they didn't even make their Actress demo until 71
According to the popencyclopiedia I have they form in 1969, and indeed recorded their first demo in 1971. The first doesn't contrary the other. The first rehearsal of a band one way or another, never coincides with the first demo. Mostly you need some time to write some songs. So maybe I was right in the end.
