Give me one reason to think that slipknot is better than mudvayne. all i hear when i lison to slipknot is screaming, some guy chewing on a bass guitar, and 3 other guys kicking drums across stage. i know drunks that can play better

alright i will. when i lison to mudvayne i hear complexity, i hear talent, i hear a guy doing something with his voice besides screaming i hear lyrics that actually mean something. not "mommy told me to take out the trash and im mad so im gonna go shoot everybody" i hear a drum beat from one drummer that is faster than a certain band im not sopose to mention with three. i hear one of the best bassest out there. i hear fucking MUSIC not screaming and complaining. i hear the best rock band out there. ill give you leave to talk about what makes slipknot so amasing on your next post. i just cant beleave that you wasted your time finding this web site to talk about a band that sux. but all the slipknot bashing aside, i must say they have a good ear for talent. after all, they did find my favarite band. and if it wasnt for slipknot, mudvayne wouldnt exist. but there music still sux

its ben a week and a half since i asked "ya its me" to tell me what was so amasing about slipknot, and he hasnt said anything. eather he took my advise and went to another site, or he has realized that there isnt anything great about slipknot. eather way, im happy.

The three heads of the three stages of metal so far:
phase 1: Led Zeppelin
phase 2: Metallica
phase 3: Mudvayne
these are the bands that have defined the craft. If you haven't noticed the inovative experience of these bands then you really should give them a try. And just so no one is confused, I am not ranking these bands by greatness nor am I comparing the in any way. I am just stating that these are the bands that define true metal from the creators (Zeppelin) to the to phases of innovation (Metallica) & (Mudvayne).

Don't even start that innovaters shit. True, Zeppelin were great, but one could argue that they got it from The Beatles, who got it from Buddy Holly and the Crickets, and so on. It's impossible to define any musical genre, especially something which has branched out as much ad metal

Holy shit. The only thing this band will ever inovate is a bullet into their own heads when they realize how much they suck. They must have been beat by parents who never let them listen to good true metal. Now they are famous and nobody will tell them they suck because it's their idea of a sick joke.

there is a distinct difference between industrial and metal, especially metal as advanced as the mathematically influenced music of MuDvAyNe.
the only band that i could liken to them on that level is probably Meshuaggah, but i'm sure there are many Mudvaynians out there who couldnt handle the ferocity of Meshuggah, purely because of the inaccessible vocals and impossibility-of-head-nodding due to the complexity of the rhythms.

I'm gonna talk to the ears of those two little kids who hate each other's favorite bands:
"ya its me" and "vayne"
First of all, what kind of name is "ya its me"? "Ya its me" your freindly neighborhood trashman, I come to take the trash...and trash it...come on, get a new login man......
NOW TO THE REAL TOPIC (which can be ablout Slipknot if MuDvAyNe is definding its "TITLE"): Slipknot and MuDvAyNe are FRIENDS!! Slipknot donated some creative fucking JUICE to MuDvAyNe in LD50. The difference between the two is huge, it's SO BIG!! But that doesn't make them hating killing enemies.
MuDvAyNe's difference from Slipknot is that it has so much more passion than Slipknot could ever reach. They work to send a big message. The way in which they chose to send it (their music) has been, needless to say, a blessing. Who wants to sit around and calmly discuss philosophical and psychological theories and possibilities, when they can listen to the bottom line clearly defined by MuDvAyNe? A decision like this...just doesn't get too hard, people. We're not working too hard are we?
Slipknot does work to get a message across, but not as hard is it works to get your blood flowing. I think that while Slipknot wastes away on past hates and lovers and Satans or whatever, the sheer brutality they use with their THREE DRUM SETS (which isn't simply three kits, these guys make their own custom precussions) and truly unique vocals is enough alone to crave MORE.
The two are alike in that their sound is unique. (Now, Korn's sound is "unique", but that's taking all of Korn as a whole. If a new Korn CD came out right about now and I wanted to hear it, I'd go pull out Untouchables or Take A Look In The Mirror, because Korn will never fucking change. They were their shining best with the CD that had "Freak On A Leash" and that stuff. Untouchables was different from that and then it was good, but they are in a black hole of repetition.) Slipknot and MuDvAyNe reinvent themselves every time they enter the studio. They pump out fresh stuff that hits where it hurts. I think the greatest thing that can happen after MuDvAyNe's new CD comes out (already pre-ordered by this loving heart) would be a collaboration of the two bands on a scale never before seen. Imagine if they could all coordinate and make music with both of those awesome vocals, AND THEN there would be FOUR drum sets!! GHAAA...
And if you're still itchy to fight about which one is better, consider this: MuDvAyNe is comprised of FOUR members, while Slipknot is made of NINE. Let's give them all nail-infested baseball bats and set them in a cage, and see who lives.

Well, at this point, it seems that everyone's elbow deep in their own opinions, but i guess i'll throw in a couple of words. I would like to start by saying that Mudvayne is in fact, a metal band. Metal is not defined by how fast you play, or how many guitarists you have or how heavy you can make a 1/2 timed beat sound. Metal is defined by a defiant attitude against corporate takeover, philosophical abandonment, and things of the like that plague the dark parts of the human psyche. Both Mudvayne and Slipknot have much to say in this area. The difference between Slipknot and Mudvayne (besides the difference of 5 members) is definitely found in the musical styles they both achieved. While Mudvayne is made of complex rhythms balanced with melodic imagery, Slipknot is composed to the blackest guitar tones mixed with industrial counter rhythms. These bands, in one sense, are incomparable. I won't say which band is better because though I love Mudvayne's latest (TEOATTC), Slipknot has again re-invented the meaning of the word Metal with it's newest effort. They each have their differences and similarities and that is what makes each of them special. I do believe that Mudvayne's writing and arrangements are a little more mature and meaningful than Slipknot's, but it's just that way to me. I guess what that means is that at this point, Mudvayne is more along the lines of Pink Floyd or Tool right now, they write complete albums instead of just collections of songs. TEOATTC is a complete concept album, which is a very hard thing to achieve with four people. Albums I consider to be complete concept albums would have to be Tool's Lateralus, A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step, Fear Factory's Obsolete, all of Pink Floyd's albums, NIN's The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. There are a slew or others, but I would have to leave the 'rock' arena in order to mention them, which i don't think is necessary right now. I hope you guys find a middle ground on which to debate instead of cursing each other out. That's the worst way to change someone's mind.
As per my personal opinion, Mudvayne, though on their way, are nowhere near the complexity, insight and maturaity of Tool. They still have much to learn and I look forward to their future albums very very much.

i just wanna say that Mudvayne are pretty cool...and the song from ghost ship is probably one of the best songs i've heard by them...but yet SlipKnot and bands like them are still somewhat better cause i'm going to agree with Jia the still need to mature a bit into the band thing and whatnot...

No......Slipknot is NOT mature in the sense of having a big message. Mudvayne and Tool know shxt that you and I will never know...did you even really real all of Jia's comment box thing? She said that Tool is better than Mudvayne. Not Slipknot. (I fogot about Tool...Tool's message is even deeper than Mudvayne's) I don't think Tool fslls into the same category of Metal as Mudvayne and Slipknot (who do fall into the same category) These categories that I make are based on their sound. Tool's is the best in that category. If you're looking for quick painful metal take some Mudvayne or Slipknot. If you want something to grind or think to, ingest Tool. (Although I've not heard a lot of Tool...I know they are deep thinkers though from radio releases)
