Matthew Good Band

I get so sick and tired and even a little guilty about not being able to get into what's hip such as the "THE" bands (hives, vines, stokes) when it's all derivative shite. I pick up on the opportunity to listen to Matt Good after my Brother in England asks about MBG's new album and I am blown away by how immediately winning and absorbing his music is.

you are all so right. i just wish that when they were the Matthew Good Band, that they would have made video's for the songs that actually reflected what their music was really like. i would have loved to see a video for Suburbia, or Change of Season, or I The Throw Away.

psyched for the new album,

Someone help me out. I am unfortunatly unable to tape the video for eapon due to my ridculous time restraints. Though I'm so VERY interested in reading all the little quotes and such that appear during the video. Was wondering if anyone knew a site that had these up already or if someone could post them here for me. Very Much appreciated.

p.s. matt if you read this stuff ever...i love your artwork thats up on nationofcool......it's fantasic

Not only is Matthew Good extremely sexy...he can sing! Oh man can he ever...i love the way he writes...he's genius. My favourite song would have to me...hmmm, NONE, they all rock! Actually, I do lean a lot towards "The Rat who would be King", now that brilliant. He's defiantly unique! MATT GOOD...YOU STILL (and to me, Always will) ROCK! Hell yea!

Like pretty much everyone thats posted, i am a MASSIVE fan. His blunt "i tell you what i want whether u like it or not" is refeshing in an era of artists reciting a bunch of PR bull. I want everyone to know that there is alot more to his music than raygun, LOTGA, Underdogs, Beautiful Midnight, Audio of Being and his B-sides. There are soooo many better songs in my opinion than the released stuff. "Whispering in the Dark", "Blue Bird", "Folk Singer" and soo many more. I don't think the album "History Teacher" was ever released but it contains many of MGB's best work. Check it out if you've never heard it!

Matt Good is a genious. Not only is he incredibly smart, but he's also very deep. His lyrics are amazing....for me, I can put on any song by him and enjoy it. Some of my favorites are probably running for home, so long mrs.smith, suburbia....oh god theres so many. I can't wait till Avalanche comes out in February. I believe it's feb. 14 I think....Another set of songs to fall in love with. I could go on forever about him....His songs have touched me in a way, no other artists have. He is number one...I hope he keeps making albums....b/c I will for sure keep buying them. Well thats all im gonna put for now.... Matt Good, I Love You.

>>By Rose   (Thursday, 6 Feb 2003 06:05)

oh actually...it February 10th....yeah Im pretty sure thats the release date fro Avalanche.

>>By rose   (Thursday, 6 Feb 2003 06:07)

The release date for Avalance has been delayed until March. March 4th I think. That's the bad news. The Good news is that he's playing 3 hometown shows: 2 shows at the Commodore April 17th and 18th, and an all-ages show at the Vogue April 19th. Looks like he's in Alberta at the end of March and in Ontario in early April.

We were just beginning to despair as we expected the Vancouver shows were going to be in January...

Cheers

Matt sums up what human existence is about. I believe that Matt Good is purely the most shuddering talent ever to exist.

Some people need to understand that this music is more then commercialism, I understand to a point but when I read this message board you all seem desperate to prove how much of fans you are. I honestly love the way Matt writes, there’s nothing better in the world then a great writer but don’t give credit on the small things. I love every single song ever written by this guy, now that’s a true fan and nothing less, the pressure of this site in intense and it’s amazing how little someone can know about themselves, but they seem to give away to the music…it’s all about the music isn’t it? Anyways, I’m sounding to mediocre, It’s only frustastion…later

Does anyone know anything about the Avalanche 'listening party' at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver on Sunday, March 2nd? It seems X-FM is giving away tickets. I wondered if there were tickets available for purchase, or if winning was the only way to attend...

I dont really listen to rock until I heard mats lyrics.. bravo! thats all I can say. My life is all about lyrics coz I spit rhymes and spin records for a living. If Mat was born to be a rapper , with that gift he'll be embrace by the underground hip hop scene or fuck! even Jiggy crowd.

MG is just pure genius, what can I say. As far as favorit song goes, mine would be by far is Fated! That song inspired me to learn guitar... what more can be said. Well done, and thank you for remaining true to society - without messangers no one will see the true light.

Before I forget - I highly suggest everyone finds MG's cover of "Enjoy the silence" by Depeche Mode - it is one of the best cover's I've ever heard...

Matthew Good has never written a song I haven't loved. I listen to his music everyday. Avanlanche is his greatest album in my opinion. He's so talented it's scary. Matthew Good is the most underrated musician out there. What's wrong with the world when Nickleback is more popular then Matt Good? Don't people realize what a lyrical genious he is?

>>By Jennifer   (Sunday, 9 Mar 2003 02:58)

I really liked what Ted wrote about Matt Good's lyrics summing up what human existence is about. I couldn't put it better myself!!!

>>By Squid   (Sunday, 9 Mar 2003 03:09)

avalanche=best work he has done EVER (also best cd ever)

>>By man with the plan   (Sunday, 9 Mar 2003 05:46)

New album "Avalanche" is great. Matthew good's voice seems to shine through in this new album. A complete departure from what has seemed to be the music industry's "feeling terrible fashion." MG puts the art back in music, something which has been missing for such a long time. Reminding us that rock does still mean something, and it isn't about things being "Too Bad" or "too late" or "never again." (like other simple marketing rock bands).

>>By Fan   (Monday, 10 Mar 2003 15:47)

I'm soooo pissed right now that I can't play Avalanche on my computer. Matt if you read this...YOU COCKSUCKER SELLOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't wanna buy a cheap cd player just to play this cd!!!!!!!!!!!

>>By Justin   (Tuesday, 11 Mar 2003 20:18)

Using CD copy protection is a decision made by the record company, not the artist, moron.

Anyway, I've listened to Avalanche several times over the past few days and it could be the best MGB album yet - although I'm still partial to Beautiful Midnight. I have to agree with a few people who have said that a lot of Matthew Good's best music is "floating" out there, unattributed to any album to my knowledge (and I own 7). "Fated" and "The Ocean" are two great songs that MGB fans should consider searching for using "unofficial channels".

>>By soulflare   (Thursday, 13 Mar 2003 03:29)

Well it appears from the postings that most of Matts fans are INTENSE fans! I happen to fall into that category myself. It also appears that Matt has been reading these posts....To Matt Good and all other fans of his music, I would like to say Matt Good and MGB kicks fucking ass. I have never heard anything so purely disgustingly beautiful in my whole life. I have been a fan for 6 years and every time he gets a song on the radio, although i hate radio, im so happy because he deserves the recognition and praise. His music is the soundtrack to my life. Keep the Good tunes coming...
