I read some of these and so far all I can say is...Those of you that are "real" Mariah fans, don't let trash talking people bother you! Don't answer anything they have to say,no matter what they say! It's the same as what Mariah herself said "No Matter What They Say". I think if Mariah actually read the bad things being put on here, she'd be a little bit let down that people are fighting about her. She really would not like people to hate on each-other that way. Mariah is mostly about being positive and about Love. So don't let the trash-typers win! Now,I've been a Mariah fan since CD #1 and her 1st hit Vision Of Love and I haven't missed a CD or a seperate hit release since then! Rainbow is all that and as far as I am concerned, everything she's done is an A+! Anyone that doesn't feel the same, well, that's how you feel and I can only respect your right to have your opinion. You don't have to be mean and negative to express yourself ,we'll listen to what you have to say. We wont agree with it but everybody has different ideas about different things. That the way we're supposed to be! Stay true Mariah fans! To yourself and to your musical taste! It's been UnderneathThe Stars! Later!

I can't believe it's happened again! For years now,I've followed Mariah's chart rankings in Billboard Magazine, the magazine that follows music sales and radio airplay and other music related topics. Safe to say when your #1 in Billboard, you really are at the top in music! Anyway,5 different times since Mariah 1st started having #1 hits, her songs have come close to being #1 the week of my birthday (the 13th of next week) and it always misses by either 2 or 3 weeks or just a few days! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but when you're a fan of any artist as much as most here are fans of Mariah's,it would be kind of like a b-day gift if 1 of her songs went to the top that same week. It's like in 1991,"I Don't Wanna Cry" was #1 for 2 weeks in May but I ended up with Paula Abdul instead! In 1992,Kris Kross was #1 with,"Jump!" until the very day of my b-day and the very next day Mariah's,"I'll Be There" hit the top (just a difference of 1 minute!) In 1996 and 1998 both,"Always Be My Baby" and "My All" went to #1 in May but did not stay there long enough. Now this week, she's at #3 on the chart with Busta Rhymes and has been there for about 3 weeks but the song can't get past 50 Cent's, "21 Questions",which is the top song on my B-day this year. Oh! Goooooooooooodie. Truthfully,I'm not really that upset about it but since I follow the charts and since my mind thinks almost 24/7,I had to vent it out someplace and right here is perfect! It's been U.T.S. Remember,Peace It Up and don't look down!!!!!

I'll make this quick. Now I don't like to put negative views on things,so I will not say Mariah has a "worst" CD (album, whatever) but to "D. Lee" , Rainbow is a fantastic recording and if you really have listened to all of Mariah's Albums you would know,as well as the tone def people at that magazine, that the one of much lesser quality of enjoyment is "Butterfly". Case in point, the best songs are>the title track,Honey,My All and Breakdown. The rest, well,The Beautiful Ones cover version is way too slow and takes too long,4th of July is like a lesser sequel to Underneath the Stars. The Roof? Not very compelling and the rest is just a bit forgettable unless you play it all the time. If Rainbow ranks anywhere,I'd say it's at least her 3rd best, behind MusicBox#2 and Daydream#1! You and anyone else need to go back and listen again. ...and remember,Peace It Up and don't look down!!!!

I am a big fan of Mariah Carey. I think she is the best singer of the universe, but she has a big attitude. I don't like that so much and I don't think she is not so beautiful, but so what. I love her music so much and that's the most importent thing.
Mariah is really a good singer, better than anyone else.

>>By Valerie   (Thursday, 26 Jun 2003 11:51)

to anyone who says that mariah "cant sing live" or that she "holds her own ears when she sings"...the fact that she holds one of her ears when she reaches a high note is so that she is able to hear herself, and if you know anything about singing or music, you will respect her for her obvious vocal talent, ability, and range, whether or not you like her music. She is a great role model- she keeps trying and never gives up, and she worked extremely hard to be in the position she is today. And, Mariah has sang live a number of times- all of the times I've heard her she has sounded amazing- maybe not as great as she does on the cd, but no artist sounds as good live as they do on a cd because a cd is practiced over and over until perfection is reached. Whitney has a great voice as well, but it isnt as good as Mariah's in terms of her range and just the sound and quality of it, and she isnt as a good of a role model what with her drug/ eating disorder type problems...

is anyone having a problem with the password for the Mariah concert tickets?

>>By meeee   (Thursday, 10 Jul 2003 07:06)

seriously, I don't mean to piss you guys off, but even die-hard mariah fans have to admit that she might just have a liiiiiiiiiitle attitude-problem.

>>By psychobarbie   (Thursday, 10 Jul 2003 15:06)

yeah but when your the worlds best selling female aritst of all time, even beating Madonna your alowed to have an attitude problem. I mean come on, more #1 singles than any other female artist in history, the longest ever #1 single (One sweet day) 14 weeks at #1, over 100 certified singles, mulit platinum albums, millions of dollars in the bank, over 147,000,000 albums sold worldwide (and might I add in half the time madonna has sold that - thats why Mariahs certified the best selling female artist of all time). So.............yeah I would have a little attitude probelm if I had achieved all that, Im sure you would as well psychobarbie xx

I really like Mariah Carey. I used to think she was a bitch and shit but then I watched Glitter and saw her perform 'Hero' on the Tribute to Heroes DVD after 9/11. I have to admit after I saw the two i was hooked. I find her absolutely amazing- she looks bangin and she got one hell of a set of pipes! I am a rap fan, and before i actually listened to Mariah i wouldnt even think about listening to someone like her. But once I actually paid some attention it was love at first sight. She's so incredible- I dont think we will ever see anyone as talented as her ever. She has to be the greatest singer in the world without a doubt. What other artist can hit a G7 High Note (which is the world record may I add from her performances at the 1991 VMA's in which she sang 'Emotions' and her performance at the 2002 Superbowl in which she sang the National Anthem). She has to be the most under-rated artist ever. J-Lo gets more attention than her somehow when Mariah has far superior vocal abilities. If you want to hear this for yourself download "Do You Know Where You're Going To" By Jennifer Lopez and Mariah and see whose is better. Mariah is also a hip-hop chick. And to add to this- she writes all her own music, something most artists don't do. She may not rap but she certainly uses awesome beats and does awesome songs with some of the top Hip-Hop artists. She has done collabos with JayZ Cam'ron Freeway Snoop Dogg Da Brat Missy Elliot Busta Rhymes Fabolous Jadakiss ODB P Diddy Mase Ja Rule Bone Thugz n Harmony Mystikal and Westside Connection (and theres probably more.) Who else do you know has that many hip hop collabos. Somethin else people look over about Mariah is all of her #1 Singles, 15 to be exact. She is the worlds best selling female artist, and she still does not get the recognition she diserves. My favorite songs of hers are Heartbreaker, My All, Emotions, Breakdown, Reflections (Care Enough), and Through the Rain. She is such an amazing person and artist and dont know how anyone could not like her. You could get chills just by listening to a song, and hear her hit a high note. It's a true god-given gift. Some people say her voice is weaker becuase she sings breathy. I think she still sings better than anyone. here is the true scoop on this; she said she has 3 diff voices- The regular voice (Like in 'My Saving Grace') the Breathy voice (like in 'Yours') and the High Register like in 'Emotions'or 'Bliss.'

>>By Brian   (Thursday, 17 Jul 2003 09:57)

First of all,"One Sweet Day" was #1 for 16 weeks. Check the Billboard Book of #1 hits,if you like. How can anyone here say that Mariah has an attitude? None of us know this woman personally. Besides, male singers have attitudes and everbody thinks that's cool and sexy. If a woman has an attitude then she's either a b**** or a spoiled Diva. That's hardly fair since women have to fight the most for respect. In show biz or the real world. One last thing, this woman has never done drugs in her life (far as we know). I think you're confusing her with Whitney Houston, who I used to like but not that much anymore. Except for one little moment of weakness last year and her divorce. Mariah's never done anything to deserve the negative things poeple say about her. We all have our own lives to worry about,so I think we all need to concentrate on that and not on commenting on the life of someone we've never met. She's going to be famous long after she's "moved on". So,let it go. Good-night!

>>By voice of reason   (Friday, 18 Jul 2003 00:19)

You tell 'em voice of reason! In fact,I take back all i said and I'll even mail Mariah an apology saying how truly sorry I am. I realize now,I was wrong. Sorry all. I'm so ashamed. I'll post nicer things from now on.

>>By psychobarbie   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 04:59)

I agree with "d. lee" about how her voice has changed. I have been listening to her since cd #1 too. i have learned that she still can do all that she did in the first cd but she doesn't utilize it as much. She plays more with the whispy voice. But N -E wayz, the girl is still amazing!! The emotion is still there!! No other hip-hop r&b singer can compete with her! Ashanti, J-Lo they suck!! Mariah can do what they do but do it better!! She is still doing her thing!!

>>By dale e canto   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 21:50)

ISN'T IT MESSED UP THE WAY TOMMY MOTOLA MARKETED J-LO TO LOOK LIKE MARIAH WHEN J-LO FIRST CAME OUT? AND HOW WHEN HE HEARD MARIHA'S "IF WE" ON THE RAINBOW CD FEATURING JA RULE, HE MADE HIM DO "I'M REAL' WITH J-LO USING THE SAME "RAPPER AND SINGER" CONCEPT!! DID ANYONE KNOW THAT? I SAW IT ON BET. DOES ANY THINK THAT IS MESSED UP HOW TOMMY TRY TO RUIN HER CARRER?

>>By kk   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 21:56)

This is to "UTS". I listened to RAINBOW and I like it alot. It is true that Mariah does not have a "worst" cd. And I apologize if I sounded negative because Mariah is my baby and nobody does it like her. Rainbow is just not my favorite. I feel like with that album she trying to experiment with differrent styles. She sounds amazing but I think the song were too overproduced. In the songs on the rainbow cd there was just alot going on. The were alot of background vocals tracked on top of each other and she did alot ad libs to the point where you could not hear the music.
I think Mariah's voice is so good that she doesn't need tracks that are overproduced. Her voice alone can make a simple song sound good. When I listen to a Mariah song I want to hear her pure beautiful voice. I love all of her music. The thing with me is that I have been listening to her since CD#1 and I tend to like the more gospel sounding Mariah like "The Unplugged CD", which ranks as one of her best in my book. The songs really accented Mariah talent and she delivered them with such emotion and feeling. And I want my baby to experiment with different sounds because she can do it all. But I just feel with rainbow she took it to far. I love "Heartbreaker" and "Against All Odd". But songs like "Did I do That?" I was just to cluttered with tracks and vocals. I agree with you about "Daydream" being one of her best because she experimented with different sound with out going overboard. It was a perfect blend of soul, pop, r&b, and hip-hop. In "Long Ago" she sounds great the song is great. Babface produced "Melt Away" and it sounds amazing. And of course "Fantasty" was a perfect blend pop and hip-hop. "Always Be My Baby" had a gospel feel to it with r&b and hip-hop. "Music Box" is great too! I respect your opinions UTS. I feel that Mariah is a phenomenal talent who can do it all. I feel she has gained so much success because of her talent and fan base. She reaches people of all races, and cultures. I think it is because her talentis so diverse and flexible. She can blend all types of music together and appeals to all types of people. No matter what type of music she sings she sing it with feeling and emotion. I may not be my favorite but I can understand way you like "Rainbow" "Heartbreak" did really good so I can't hate. And by that time the music scene was changing so she had to do something new. So, I respect your opinion because Mariah fans are so diverese and we're all not going to like the same album, But on thing we have in common is the love of Mariah music. So again I apoloize if it sounded like I was being negative toward our diva. I love that Girl!! I love her fans!! WE GOTTA SUPPORT HER NO MATTER WHAT!! HOLLA!! I have to say the "Baby if you give it to me" is a great song and i am glad that it is doing good!!

>>By O. Lee   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 22:41)

Well said O.Lee! Very true we are different! I Love you Mariah!!

>>By Dale_E_Canto   (Tuesday, 22 Jul 2003 23:02)

O. Lee! Thanks for the message! I appreciate your candor (honesty). I left for awhile but I've read some of the new messages and with the exception of 1 or 2 negatives, this place is statting to look like what it was made for...talking about Mariah Carey. Of course,we can talk about other musical things up here too. Someone mentioned the singer / rapper combination in recorings? I'm 35,so I'd be totally lying if I said I liked that. I find listening to a good singer wonderful but find it very "intruding" and "disruptive" when a rapper comes up in the song (or the mix.) I feel that,Rappers should rap and singers should sing. I'm totally old school, with a few exceptions, and I'm fine with that. About the time I turned 30, I strated to lose intrest in most popular music and you know what? That's the way it's supposed to be. When you're young, your mind is open to whatever is out there at the time but when the styles change and the acts get younger and you get older....you just don't have as much intrest. It's simply maturity. I'm outta time! Bye Now! Peace It Up and Don't look down!

Hey, I do not take lightly to people using my nick.
But, I do actually want to apologise because I recently went to a madonna-site and somebody there was really bad-mouthing her,
so my reaction was like, how sad must your life be to go around fansites of people you don't even like to talk trash about them?
Of course, then I remembered this and decided to come back here and apologise. Then I saw somebody already did that for me, so hey, thanks psychobarbie2.
Fairwell,

Dus daaaaag en sorry! (that's dutch by the way)

>>By star   (Monday, 3 Nov 2003 00:18)

Mariah's not so bad. Her fatal mistake was deciding to become "black" instead of staying "white". She could have become one of the greatest pop divas of all time if she stuck to the adult-contemporary thing of Music Box and before. All this RnB stuff.. this stuff ain't never going to make it into the Halls of Fame. I have nothing against black people- I like Grandmaster Flash and Rage Against the Machine (ok Zack's not technically black but he sings about black oppression). But I don't think Mariah's good at doing black stuff.

But money, fame and marrying your boss after Music Box is a good enough reason to flip your colour/image/direction out.

Did I mention Music Box a lot? That was my first album of her's on cassette. I still love it today but I don't have a cassette player anymore.

>>By ftad   (Wednesday, 5 Nov 2003 17:35)

Even with her more hip-hop / RnB side, she'd still become one of the biggest selling artists of all time.......still classed as the 'Worlds best selling female artist ever'....I just think she needs to do a Music Box type album, or a great hip/hop album thats gonna do diamond type numbers!!
