I was lucky enough to have seen the orignal Mahavishnu band with Jan Hammer & company, way back in 72 in Philadelphia. One of my favorite memories was when they performed Miles Beyond with an extended jam duet between Goodman, Hammer and McLaughlin and later a beautiful medly that incorporated Meeting of the Spirits, Birds of Fire and Dance of the Maya in a seemles transition of musical bliss. Hands down, the greatest Maha tune is Dance of the Maya, although all are superb.
Since Mahavisnhu, John's Que Alegria is also a monumental collection of ethereal, visually stunning compositions with fantastic texturing and virtuosity from all three musicians.

My Favorite band, because of Visions of the emerald beyound, and birds of fire. Though honestly i am not delighted that much with other albums by them.
Within this song "Celestial Terrestrial Commuters" is my top all favorite. It is strange that meanwhile I like musics by many genres, I feel I can define a favorite song...

Dear es-355 ,
It was good to hear about your experience of a true concert by them for a 27 year-old fan:)
