Discussion: John Fahey

I worked with him

>>By rjr

I had heard of him but never listened to him until 1997, his "City of Refuge" album, which most of his fans didn't like, I guess, because it was too unlike his earlier work, but I loved, this being all I knew of him. I then got the "Return of the Repressed" anthology, and can say he has been, even at this late date, one of the most profound influences in my life. How sad and shocking to be informed, on my 50th birthday, at the party as a matter of fact, to be told he had died just the day before.

John's sorely missed now, that's for sure.
There ain't 50 others around now who can begin to fill his shoes.

Difficult to say what are his best albums, there are so many.
America? Fare Forward Voyager? Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death?
