My name is Jerome Carr i am one of the sons of James Carr i think it is shamefull how you and others continue to exploit my father's music, His music made Millions but yet he dieded with only a few pennies in his pocket. you continue to scroll his material across the Web making your pockets fat while my family and I continue to find answers. In the very near future i will release a statement along with the names of companies and personal to be named in our complant. if you have any doubt that i am his son you may call me at 618-203- 0794 or E-Mail me at Crummz 2 Brixxz @LDD.Net, It is the family's hope that we find someone with enougt compassion who is willing to sit down and listen to us and maybe give us some answers and understanding as to why our father was such a great singer and entertainer but died poor. I for one am not interested in pursueing old matters i am concerned about keeping my father's legacy alive, and maybe you can help James Carr by helping the children of this Great Man. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. (Wednesday, 29 Jan 2003 20:02)
Today I was introduced to your father's music on National Public Radio, and am now searching for some of his CD's. What I heard simply blew me away and I just can't wait to hear more. Good luck in resolving some of the issues that you have with people in your father's past.

jerome, your dad was truly a treasure (especially for some it seems) and a master craftsman of his art, it is a sad and unfortunate travesty that there are those out there in this so called "land of opportunity" who wish to line their own pockets at the expense of those who rightly deserve to share in the wealth wich they've labored for, but doesn't this seem to be the trend throughout history in regards to our american music and those who've created it! as a performer myself and historian of american roots music I could name you countless artists in the music field since the 1930's who've been bilked, misled and abused by crooked charlatans in the music industry who've had dirty souls and dollar signs in their eyes. they gonna reap what they sow, if not on this earth or in this lifetime then in some other realm at some other time. I wish you the best in your quest.

How sad to hear the story of a A-A singer, again, who died penniless. I support your cause. This happens too often, so much money is made and continuing to be made and the entertainer is either the last to get paid or is penniless. I would like to view James Carr's misfortune as a lesson to prevent this from happening to other talented musicians. Good luck and don't give up!

Jerome:
Your late father happened to be one of the most talented and inspired vocalists in American music history. He ranks alongside of, or could arguably surpass Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, O.V. Wright, Little Johnny Taylor, Wilson Pickett, or any other vocalist you could name in any style. The fact that he died penniless and under-recognized is yet another of many tragic examples of the problem with the American music business. Too often it's been driven by the ignorance of an uninformed listening public, and by the greed of an industry more interested in selling image than talent. Good luck to you and your family. Your father's talent and contribution to Soul and R&B are huge and indisputable. To the real fans of Soul Music, your father's legacy is etched in stone.
