I don't know how anyone could find any meaning or depth in GC's music. It lacks any form of depth or emotion. But it's not just GC's, it's all of this music coming out thats being labled as PUNK!. Whats punk now sounds the same as 10 years ago, which i think would really miff alot of people from the original movement. The people who wanted to try something new, and be more diverse and artistic with there music. But i suppose these bands like GC could be a good thing, with all the desacration of the holy underground music scene, I think this pop outlook of everything could spark a real revolution in the ranks of artists to be, a renissance of sorts. Cause i know im getting real fed up of being fed all this shallow crap on a big spoon.

>>By *Nikki*   (Sunday, 10 Aug 2003 01:01)

This new "punk" sounds nothing like 10 years ago. And this isn't a renaissance no its far from it. Its not a revolution either. Its a trend that will come to an end when something new comes along.

What are you talking about Emoboy?!?! 10 years ago?! 1993? What are you trying to say, that bands like Rancid were true punk? Punk was good in the 70's and 80's. It's funny that you are talking about what is true punk (I am assuming that because you put punk in quotation marks) yet you say that 10 years ago it was good. Wrong. Please, next time actually know what you're talking about. Oh and by the way for the record I am not a Good Charlotte fan, and also, if that's not what you were trying to say then excuse me for being a complete ass.

GC lover 15: no.13 is called Emotionless btw
(returning to previous topic) On the sleve of the first ablum gc it says "All songs written by Benji and Joel" so maybe the others dont have a part in it. Doesnt that defy the whole point of a band? Isnt a band when you make music with your friends? Not just two people do everything. Maybe that is why the drummers keep leaving....

>>By Riot Girl   (Sunday, 10 Aug 2003 20:54)

I never said it was good 10 years ago I am saying that it is differant from 10 years ago because thats what that person said. Don't put words in my mouth.

>>By Emoboy2.0   (Sunday, 10 Aug 2003 21:43)

when I meant what that person said I meant that they said it sounded this way ten years ago.

>>By Emoboy2.0   (Sunday, 10 Aug 2003 21:48)

How is pop punk/skater punk music anydifferent than it was 10 yrs ago, when it first popped its head??? I'ts the same, it hasn't matured.

>>By 7L-weenie   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 05:50)

all these pop punk bands sound the fucking same. I can't understand how you guys like there 3 chord music they suck. you all should go to hell. your all idiots who nead to understand what REAL music is. you maybe something under the terms of....oh I don't know talent. there song lyrics are meaningless. And they havn't matured since blink came out. oh I bet you din't know untill mtv put it in your brains this year that they even were around. get out there find some better music. you make punks sick and meaningless to be punk. thanks a lot.

>>By magic_silly_puddy   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 07:13)

I forgat to say that I just love how they walk out there peirced like crazy tatoos everywhere blacked out. then they start singing and all you here is shit like oooh girl oh yeah baby. in the most girly voice ever man i'm sure scared of them and there punk music.

>>By magic_silly_puddy   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 07:18)

magic_silly_puddy....u r welcome!!! now it's my time to debate upon ur words......maybe half of the fans didn't know GC or simple plan or sum 41 if it wasn't for mtv...... but u also kind of have to look towards the REAL fans..... which hear a song from like a friend lets say (like myself) and then they go to their website and they hear more songs and then they start to love them (like myself) and also there are fans that listen to GC and also listen to like green day...and ummm...what ever else may be called pop punk..... but then also there are fans like me and many other fans that listen to GC....and also listen to the misfits....the casualties... the sex pistols.... cradle of filth.... murderdolls..... iced earth..... and yet us fans also have time to listen to "posers" such as GC..... now...my explanation for GC....when have they called themeselves punk?? never..... the only people that have ever called them punks is the type of people that like wear vans and then they also wear like ambercrombie.... u can't call someone posers....if they haven't labeled themselves anything.... girly voice???? i'm not gonna say anything about that.... it will take a while...anywho...GC ROCKS!!! and i like billy's and benji's and paul's and joel's tattoos... they're funky and different...anywho.. ta ta all!!! *GC STILL ROCKS!!!!*

>>By AcidTears   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 08:07)

You like their tattoos? Well, there's no accounting for taste I guess.
magic_silly_puddy is absolutely right. I'm not going to agree with any one point because she is 100% right.
Riot Girl: didn't I say earlier that they should all write songs? Who was it told me I was wrong?

>>By Brazilman   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 19:27)

Well i thought that as they were all the band they must all write at least part of the song. Okay i was wrong. Benji and Joel must be really cleaver then.

>>By Riot Girl   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 20:24)

Talking about taste, their tats are really kool, what about your shades?

>>By Riot Girl   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 20:28)

You know what 50 cent says about how people like Ja Rule and Nelly are destroying Hip-hop with songs like "Hot in here"? These are one of the groups that along with Simple Plan and Gob and all those bands are going to destroy Punk Rock. It's bubblegum shit like this that kills punk rock. These guys never do anything punk all they do is wear mascara and put out cheesy lyrics. This is manufactured shit that this "Music Business" puts out. And all you girls that say "Oh there so down to Earth..blah blah" Who the fuck cares if their down to earth?? The way most of these bands end up is no where near down to earth. They're usually drugged out and "up from earth" in the sky burning in hell for destroying our beloved punk rock. This band is a shitty rebellious little bunch of 12 year olds. The usual. My guess is that there gone in 5 years and dead, any bets???

>>By BuddyChrist   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 20:35)

There has already been the 5 year conversation

>>By Riot Girl   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 21:23)

lol Yeah, my shades look very stupid, I'll admit. But my girlfriend likes them.
In a very good band, everyone writes the songs. In a moderately good bands, one or two stars write the songs. In low-grade manufactured bands, the songs are written by lyricists. But a band that has all of its songs written by the two brothers (who are incidentally far more musical than the other guys) just makes me sick.

>>By Brazilman   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 22:10)

magic_silly_puddy: You're telling people to go to hell for liking a band? You were really naive in saying that most of these fans had only found out about Good Charlotte through MTV. If you had looked back a couple of pages, then you would find out that we were arguing about how poser fans are taking over and ruining their reputation. So it's not really the bands' fault but all the wannabe fans.
BuddyChrist: Gone in 5 years? What if they mature in their music? For all we know these guys might actually SAVE rock n' roll if they show a little originality.

>>By FutbolFreak   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 23:31)

And I predict that as Good Charlotte gets older, so will their music. Brazilman is right though, the other band members need to get in on the songwriting. I'll say it again for the record, I'not a Good Charlotte fan, but I care about how a bunch of loyal fans feel when other non-fans are putting Good Carlotte down for something they aren't.

>>By FutbolFreak   (Monday, 11 Aug 2003 23:36)

i think that during the years new trends will start and eventually people will forget GC and their music. like before Avril came out nobody was wearing "punkish" clothes but now that she came out thats all there is in stores. i dont know if you understand my point?

>>By Suyen X   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003 03:24)

I understand what you're saying, but I think it's the fans that are ruining the bands. Not the bands that dress a certain way. I don't have a problem with what Avril wears, but if millions of people are trying to copy her, there's a problem with society not the muscicians.

>>By FutbolFreak   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003 04:35)

People who dress like Avril or GC are mainly stupid poser fans. A better band (better meaning less likely to attract poser fans) would dress normally, like Coldplay do. The best way to judge a band you've never heard is their popularity, and if that popularity is made up of a look designed to make sucker fans say "He's so HOTT!"* then the chances are the music isn't very good.
*All fans who use the word "hott": Why the double T? Are you dyslexic?

>>By Brazilman   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003 12:46)

GC should write a song about their loser fans and about all the people who hate them. I'd gladly buy that.

>>By Brazilman   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003 14:27)

Brazilman, you're right about one thing, Coldplay is a better band(in my opinion). But I don't think Good Charlotte meant to get this many poser fans, they just simply made the music they liked to make(or could, because I don't think they took any guitar classes). But if I do find out that Good Charlotte is making music just for poser fans, then they are becoming like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and all the other wannabe "pop" stars(why is it called pop if it isn't popular?).

>>By FutbolFreak   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003 23:04)

i think GC justplays there own style and if posers are attractred to there music its not there fault

>>By Suyen X   (Wednesday, 13 Aug 2003 03:53)

right.....
