Good band with the lyrics I mean but the sound needs to be a bit more on the punk side. I can really relate to the guys with the whole no father aspect but I can't say i like the pop sound all that well. Yes I am fan of theirs but only for the lyrics.
Sorry every GC fan there is out there but they NEED to be more punk!
Favorite quote?....: "You left us one little room with a black and white T.V., one exiction notice and a bill for therapy. your're livin all alone like a dog without a bone I said you're livin all alone because you left us all at home, well you had a second chance but you threw it all away a fourth, and fifth, and sixth, but that was yesturday now you're sittin at a bar just drownin in your tears you're lonely in the corner while everybody cheers!"- Complicated from their first album ( the only one I have just for that song).

>>By lilred   (Sunday, 23 May 2004 06:10)

okay.... lilred... not to be mean or anything, and I don't want anyone to be mad at me because I say this... it's not exiction... it's eviction... My "friends" gets annoyed when I do that but I don't like when something is wrong... don't hate me for the way I am ok?

btw... it's good when someone tells what they want... but I don't want GC to be more punk... I don't like punk that much... but it doesn't mean that I hate people who does... why not more rock? Many listens to rock so if they wanna get out to more people they should do more rock music.... atleast I think so... but I like them the way they are.... we'll see how the new album is... it's maybe heavy metal! =P (kidding ok?)

Glad to hear that there's someone who doesn't think I'm bi... I mean... there's a lot of guys out there, why look after girls too? for me it's enough to look after a guy that doesn't decide what I should do, or what I should wear and etc...

>>By Mekko   (Sunday, 23 May 2004 10:34)

nOel_x3: The picture I was referring to is a pic of Billy getting it on with um... some guy from Mest. Tony, perhaps. And I know you don't really think I'm bi. It was a joke.
Haha, that was just a typo. You are fussy, aren't you Mekko? :P I don't hate you though, and I'm not annoyed. lol You rock. Most guys probably don't want to tell you what to wear... the thing is that most girls spend time and money making themselves look good and guys think they're really stupid for it. We don't appreciate it, so who are you making yourselves look good for? Other girls? I don't specifically mean you, by the way. I was just referring to girls who wear too much make-up and jeweallery and stuff. Then they compliment each other on their clothes and general appearance. To me, that seems gay. Finding other girls attractive, that is. Or is it just jealousy? "I wish I looked like you"... Why do girls want to look so "pretty"? They have their own crazy idea of pretty which doesn't tie in with what guys think at all. Okaeey, I'll shut up now because this is totally unrelated to Good Charlotte. But hey, that doesn't mean we can't still talk about this sort of thing on this board! Keep on about random stuff, you know?
I think GC would only be good if they suddenly turned really heavy. I'm pretty much sure they won't because they want to squeeze their pop image dry. I would be rather amused if their manufacturers turned them into a death metal band and metal heads started liking them loads. However, that is a possibility. If I were them, I'd bring out a punk album and then turn to metal. It'd be a spectacular conversion and they'd probably drag a load of their old fans along with them because of their "cuteness" and slow conversion to the metal look. Also their lyrics would presumably stay pretty much the same. It beats me how they can write so many songs all about their father, though. I mean, they didn't know him that well, surely...

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Sunday, 23 May 2004 13:47)

Mekko I ment you gave a definition of the meaning of bi " bi... not gay and not straight" not that you were bi..I guess im to tired to make much sense.....

>>By Riot Girl   (Sunday, 23 May 2004 16:58)

Benji could still be celibate, so it wasn't really a definition.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Sunday, 23 May 2004 17:41)

yes I am... sometimes... =P

Believe it or not... but the guys I've met has always tried to change my way to dress and behave... they think they can do it... but they can't... too bad for them... there's been one who haven't tried but I found him with another and ... the rest is history... but he was nice... but I don't know when he lied and didn't....

>>By Mekko   (Monday, 24 May 2004 17:09)

Hmm, a lot of guys are like that. Well, nuts to them. There are perfect guys out there somewhere, I suppose. Oh well, I don't honestly care. But I do hope you find a perfect guy!

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:52)

well thanx.... someday I'll probably do it... but right now I'm fine without somebody.... you don't have to care either.... it's not you who's gonna live my life, right? *lol*

aren't we supposed to talk about Good Charlotte on this board? it seems like it's everything else instead... someone who knows something about them that we haven't discussed yet?

>>By Mekko   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:46)

Theyre not very good live. Infact they practically got booed off the stage at the Leeds Festival. Not sure what i think of 'em. Theyre getting a bit too accessible for my liking. I keep seeing 7 and 8 yr olds with their hooddies on. Altho I guess they are quite fun in their own little way.

>>By metal_kitty   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 18:27)

I just think they suck. Really, I'd pay not to see them live. It'd be horrible, the atmosphere with all of those little kids around...

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:49)

Hey Riot Girl, its been a while, lol....isn't it great that there are still G.C. fans out there..oiy *eye roll*

>>By Artemis7.0   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 22:51)

Since the old days they (the fans on this board) have matured a bit. Every now and then you get a random teeny bopper, but nothing quite like Sk8er Gurl. The only constant fan at the moment is Mekko and she seems perfectly sane as well as highly intelligent. The GC fan stereotype is being torn to pieces.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Wednesday, 26 May 2004 01:16)

you always say nice things about me... but there sure is fans that don't seems to have found this side yet... I read in a daily newspaper that GC's new album is called Chronicles Of Life And Death.... it's out in september.... I don't know where she found it or anything, but I guess it's on some of the fansites.... like gccirclepitt, goodcharlotteonline etc... I don't remember all sites because nothing happens on 'em...

>>By Mekko   (Wednesday, 26 May 2004 17:22)

That's an interesting name - certainly sounds better than the first two, but maybe it's just more poserish. What GC really need is a cracking guitarist and some respectable metal sounds... then they might just sound good.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Wednesday, 26 May 2004 17:36)

I like the guitarists... but I play the guitar by myself so... I really hope they get that metalsound... I like darker music.... someone who understands what I mean?

>>By Mekko   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 09:49)

Hell yeah - that's what I'm trying to say. A heavier Good Charlotte would be awesome, but I don't think they could pull it off, because from what I've heard their guitars are pretty shocking. I don't know, maybe they were deliberately playing badly in the songs I heard... but seriously, a metal Good Charlotte would be better. I think they should develop the punk look gradually so that it goes along with their musical transformation. And I don't think many metalheads would take them seriously unless they went through a punk stage of actually playing music that fitted their current music. Then going on to metal. That would work. I might actually like Good Charlotte.
I'm not saying the songs are bad - I just think they suck. They have something there which is interesting, but they're bringing it across in the wrong way. I can't appreciate the integrity of their lyrics or their ability to play. Maybe they're just a really sucky band. But a good way for a band with talent and their image to go would be to bring out one poppsih album (Good Charlotte actually did this), then one with punk music (I think they tried and failed with the Young and Hopeless) and progress to metal. That'd give them a huge fanbase and probably revolutionise music like only a few bands before have done. But Good Charlotte went wrong with their second album. Such a pity.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:38)

And you know why I'm bitter? I'll never have a chance to do what they could have done because the band I'm in is way too Gothic for my liking (why am I in a Goth band??) and making pop music simply will not be tolerated. I wouldn't mind, but hey, who cares about what I think?

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:40)

Goth bands are great.

>>By Undertone   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:55)

I care alot about what other people wants with their lifes... I said to a local band today that they sounded like Slipknot (they really do!!) and I think that's a compliment because I really like Slipknot... too bad they don't... they threw my slipknot cd somewhere I nearly couldn't find it... they hate 'em.... they're figuring about putting down their career because of that... *oops* they thought I was mean... I gotta tell them NOT to do it... and the guys are really cute too... =P

I don't really why I said that.... whatever.... the band I played in before, I think we played alternative metal... atleast some kind of metal... and I thought we were great... until the other members started to tell me to shut the f**k up... so I didn't want to play with them anymore....

All the members of GC likes heavy metal.... so it's not impossible that they're doing a metal album in the future...

>>By Mekko   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 18:20)

Well, that wasn't a very clever thing to say, I suppose. But still, as long as you were being honest, it sounds fair. They must have realised you were complimenting them because they know you like Slipknot. I guess they were just being mean. But then, what you said did kinda deserve one Hell of a retaliation. For me, Slipknot are on the same level of musical talent and appealingness as Good Charlotte.
I dooo hope they turn metal. That'd rock.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 21:49)

You want GC to turn metal, but if they did you would call them posers. A pop band trying to be metal....

I dont think anyone could be as bad as s8ter gurl.

What you up to lately artemis?

>>By Riot Girl   (Friday, 28 May 2004 23:58)

Oh, I wouldn't call them posers. Maybe they are in fact a metal band trying to be pop in order to get a huge fanbase and now they will turn into metal. If I had my way, I would release a pop album, a punk one, a metal one and then reveal my true roots with a Gothic album. I could get loads of fans and still be making really popular but brilliant music. Unfortunately, I'm a rather sucky musician. So not like Good Charlotte at all... maybe one day I'll be famous. I won't waste my chance like them.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 02:46)

or you could just listen to therion

>>By Vavin   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 05:36)

great advise vavin....i'm going to do just that....

>>By HY...   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 11:58)

They're nothing like Good Charlotte though. And they never will be. So they're irrelevant to this discussion. No, I think it'd be really clever for a real band to go pop, punk, metal, goth. Good Charlotte, however, being manufactured, will probably try to turn emo. That ain't gonna make them any more popular though...

>>By Flake 1.6   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:11)

if Good Charlotte are on the same level as Slipknot, they would have been 1000 times better than they are at this point... I haven't heard any of the new songs but what I know Slipknot is way better... and still I am a fan of GC... it doesn't make sence...

I've never heard therion but I believe they're good...

btw... I heard an interview from last year when GC were in Germany that if they didn't have as many fans as they have they would have changed their name... wonder what that name would be...

>>By Mekko   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:20)

Good Charlotte and Slipknot are both really terrible... here's a short list of reasons I dislike GC:
Their songs are almost all about how their dad left them
They dress up as punks, even though they're not
They really do sound like they're whining in their songs
They're dreadful musicians
They suck at writing music
They turn on little girls, which is just disgusting
They sing about things they know nothing about

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Sunday, 30 May 2004 17:00)

I actually finished downloading Hold On yesterday. Here's what I think of it:
The guitar at the beginning is horribly cheap, contrasting with the solo which is unjustifiably heavy. A question for fans: What's so heavy about the words "Hooold on!"?
And considering the song was probably written before Chris (is he still the drummer?) joined the band, it's not surprising that the drumming sounds so unprofessional. Whoever wrote that drum part was probably stoned at the time.
The singing actually does sound like whining. That's really lame and immature, but don't get me started on the lyrics. But then my review of this song would not be complete without something about those terrible words...
It's words like these that make people repeatedly put messages on this board saying that Good Charlotte should shut up. They do NOT go through all of the same things as every person who feels like hanging themself, overdosing, slitting their wrists or jumping off a bridge. There are all sorts of different causes for suicide, and Joel and Benji (all the songs are about them for crying out loud) have not really suffered anything which justifies this song. Don't get me wrong, I hate parents who walk out on their kids. Those people are evil. But I have no sympathy for those twins, and I actually hate their dad more for inspiring them to do this than for abandoning his children. Hey, maybe he even had a good reason for doing it. Anyway, when Benji says "we all", is he referring to the rest of the band or some invisible group of suicidal ghosts who inspired this song? I'm sure they're not bleeding, metaphorically or literally. Whatever they are missing, I'm sure they have the cash to buy it. What the Hell is he on about with that weird bit in the middle? Just singing random sentences with no real meaning; it sounds like it. "Do you know what you're doing to you?" Yes, I'm dissing you on a Good Charlotte discussion board. Oh, those lyrics are bad...
Well, that just about wraps it up for what I can say about Good Charlotte's performance. Please say so if I've missed anything out. It actually amazes me that it's badly produced as well. You'd think that their record label would at least hire them a decent studio and equipment, but apparently not. What gets me most is that their genre is described as "punk rock" when it is definitely pop... Are these guys having a laugh or what?
Good Charlotte suck in every way! But don't kill yourself - hold on and they'll disappear eventually. Enjoy good music until then.

>>By Sk8a H8a (Monday, 2 Feb 2004 21:22)

Sorry - I just think this is brilliant and it has to be repeated.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Sunday, 30 May 2004 17:26)

I see that you now have put your list of why GC sucks on the board... I don't like it... I wrote a wrong answer before when I was trying to represent the good things in GC... what I wanted to be said was that:

1: Yeah, sure, all songs is about their dad... Isn't there some love songs in between?? Wondering is a song about love to a dog (Benji claims that), My Bloody Valentine is a song about a jealous boy who likes a girl thats already taken, Seasons (Believe it or not everybody, but I made Sk8a H8a to listen to it earlier today!) is a song about uncomfirmed love...

Movin' On is about living your life even though it can be hard sometimes... Festival Song is about a festival in Annapolis/ Maryland..

2:Benji maybe do so, but I don't really think Billy, Paul & Chris do it... They're like me, dresses in what they like to wear... I think the same about Joel... And I don't think their clothes matters as much as the music..

3: They may do that... But many feels insecure and feels like someone understands them if they listen to whining music.. When I'm really low then I like to listen to music where everybody screams... *lol*

4: I think that about Coldplay... so.. I guess that you know what I think about GC... I definitely don't think GC is a bunch of dreadful musicans...

5: I don't think they suck writing music... but ofcourse... I like everyone who makes better music than I do, and I SUCK! I like the riffs and especially the guitar playing in East Coast Anthem, it's awesome....

6: Small kids feels connected with the music... I think... I dunno... ask someone who's younger than me... but yeah.. sure... it's horrible when 12 year old girls says "I love Benji, he's soooooooo sexy!!!" when even a 10 year old girl says "Billy... I'm gonna marry him when I'm 18, he's soooo cute" yeah.. I think Billy is cute... he has the same hairstyle as my ex boyfriend and I still love him... so Billy has always been my favourite...

7:How can you be so sure about that? I mean, they could have been through it... I believe they know what they sing about...

now you know what I think...

>>By Mekko   (Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:15)

"we love sweden. I'm moving to sweden!" - Benji

found it on a friends site... He said it when they won an award on the NRJ award night someday last year...

but he has said he loves Denmark too... so I dunno what he reakky thinks... do you?
