of course it will be a repeat, all their music sounds the same. it blows, listen to real music, like botch and isis, and ATDI and The Mars Volta, or want something that wont repeat? Check out RaceBanon! there you go for some variety!!! Yay

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is a very ironic song. It certainly does a good job of describing GC themselves.

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Tuesday, 7 Oct 2003 17:35)

I agree. I think that song sux.

>>By Jonny   (Tuesday, 7 Oct 2003 23:54)

-Last page " could they be pop if they don't dress or act like pop stars?"
The fact that you said this just proves that you are completely ignorant to what punk music is... Don't misunderstand me I'm not one of those stupid punk purists but all I'm saying is that punk is not in any way determined by how a band dresses/acts. if you try to dress like a punk for the fashion you are a poser...same as if you try to act like a punk. Good Charlette doesn't even do a good job of TRYING to fit into all the stereo-typical bullshit punk attitudes. Therefore they are not punk in ANY way. They ARE pop because they are a band of mass distribution and they are marketed to all of the unwitting teeny bopper masses. This makes them pop (short for popular if you are too dense to pick that up)However a band can be popular without being "pop" it all depends on what kind of "popularity" it is. For example: Rancid is a popular band and they are pretty punk. (I know that some people will say "Oh my god Rancid's not punk they're sellouts you wanna hear a real punk band? try Exploited!". I myself like Exploited but they aren't the only good punk band). Rancid was on MTV a couple times big whoop! they're punk because they started out small, Good Charlette aside from your beliefs DIDN'T! this is in no way why they are punk however it all depends on the attitude and quality of the music. Good Charlette has stupid ass repetitive lyrics and medeocre musical talent. This is all precessed a million times, marketed through popular music stores and advertized on MTV. Rancid has true lyrics written with heart and not just to make money. Look at the cover art on GC's cd it's a picture of them same thing with their second CD this is because they marketed their pretty boy looks to make a name for themselves and then like the true underground punk band they were finally mustered up the guts to put something else on their third (or fourth, forgive me for not keeping track of their releases geez!) once they had a bog enough cashflow and enough music videos on MTV to remind their fans that the plastered pretty boy faces of the GC boys were still there... yup that's why they're pop

>>By nosupremists   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 01:53)

wow, you put some time in to that. I agree, Punk isn't fashion, or is it acting a certain way. But, I love the fashion. Its a great look.

GC may be popular, and they may be posers or whatever, but at least they don't try to act like they are harcore. They just act like GC, and I respect that. I don't have a problem with GC, but I do get irritated by their fans.

>>By Jonny   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 06:25)

They try to look all hardcore and stuff with thier spikes and clothing, but when you listen to their music, you dont notice the attitude at all.

They may have attitude in the way they dress, but it's not in their music and being on trl or mtv in itself doesnt make them look hardcore at all, it only makes them look like pansies.

Does anyone here like the Distillers? They're an awesome band, and they have definite attitude in their music.

>>By Knoxville grl   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 17:27)

don't judge my opinions and posts nonsupremists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i say wat i want if u dont like it then fuk off!!

They dont have pretty boy faces unlike that monkey justin timerlake he has a pretty boy face damn guy looks like a girl! GC do not have pretty boy faces there just naturally good looking and ur jealous!

they rock, knoxville grl they DO have attitude in their music and who the fuck are the distillers???

how can u not notice the attitude? its in all thier songs!!!

P.S. Mark Hoppus from blink 182 is hott!! peace!!!!

>>By Marks_future_wifey   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 17:41)

Marks_future_wifey You dont know who the Distillers are!?! God dont you listen to anything?!? Read magazines?
Since when did nosupremists say you couldnt say what you want to?

>>By Riot Girl   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 19:38)

Good Charlotte are not pretty boys. No way. They are ugly little scum who look they've been sat on by an elephant. Anyone who believes they're better than that is either blind/under the evil influence of GC's promoters.
A song I particularly hate is The Anthem. I think it may be their absolute worst.
GC may not have created their pop-poser-punk image, but they're certainly not trying to do anything about it. Sure, pretending to be what they're not is making them lots of money now, but if they want to be famous forever then they'll have to stop being posers. Of course that isn't going to happen because the record industry likes what is new and so the collapse of Good Charlotte will just mean lots more money from the next pop-poser-punk going to the record company. Poser fans won't care when Good Charlotte are gone because they'll have a new band to drool over almost immediately. The record label won't care because they'll be making plenty from afoementioned new band. I don't suppose anyone in this discussion will care because it's gone on for way too long. Good Charlotte won't care because they're rich enough and they'll be busy spending the money they've "earned" to even notice that nobody is buying their new album. The only people who will care are the hardcore fans of GC. Wait a moment, what hardcore fans?

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 20:39)

I think the Anthem is their worst song.

>>By Riot Girl   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2003 20:55)

Who cares if they look punk. A lot of people look crazy, but don't have attitude. Besides, looks don't mean shit. TRL is nothing but a TV show. If it sux so bad, than why does everyone watch it. Who gives a fuck who appears on TRL.

I personally don't like the Distillers. I like their music, but I don't like Brody. I have respect for that band. but thats just me.

>>By Jonny   (Thursday, 9 Oct 2003 00:21)

So who in here watches TRL? I don't. How popular is it exactly?

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Thursday, 9 Oct 2003 08:40)

Exactly! TRL is watched by couch patatos who sit on their asses all day. MTV Sux!

>>By Jonny   (Friday, 10 Oct 2003 07:17)

Good charlotte are the biggest pile o' shi*e av heard in years, i feel sorry for the poor brainwashed kids (10-18) who adore them.

Scotland rules!

>>By King Sloishty   (Friday, 10 Oct 2003 12:20)

ha ha we are all brainwashed

>>By emogirl   (Saturday, 11 Oct 2003 20:36)

Not me, I hate Good Charlotte. This discussion is a mighty fine source of laughter. But maybe it's time to laugh at something else...

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Sunday, 12 Oct 2003 02:07)

Aren't we all brainwashed?

>>By Jonny   (Sunday, 12 Oct 2003 11:35)

Aren't we all brainwashed?

Yes, but aknowledgement is the first step towards escape.

>>By Campking   (Sunday, 12 Oct 2003 17:45)

This is getting very silly. We're supposed to be talking about Good Charlotte, but instead we have comments on the subject of America and now brainwashing. So Campking, enthrall us all with your erudite wisdom. What is the SECOND step towards escape?

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Sunday, 12 Oct 2003 18:13)

Total enclosure from the rest of the world, on your own little Island, no telly, no radio, no conversation...

In short: th life of a Hermit with only your own thoughts, and actually you should abandon them to.. because they are based on the knowledge given to you by others...

So: live in solitude and everlasting meditation..

Or just live with the fact that you are brainwashed, but try to do as much what you think are your own ideas and base your descisions on that....

Even the brainwashers are brainwashed...........................?

>>By Campking   (Sunday, 12 Oct 2003 20:09)

If we're brainwashed, then surely the idea of living on the little island is a brainwasher idea. There are no ideas to save us if everyone has become brainwashed. Only outside help is any good. Let's all marinate in the soothing sounds of Bad Charlotte...

I wasn't really into Good Charlotte until I was forced into going to their concert and they really were pretty decent. However, Mest isn't so good. Go download something corporate now! Oh, GC posting thing. Right. Who's to say what is punk or what isn't? When your spending so much time like trying to pick ideas, songs, bands, and clothing that is all your left with is the clash pretty much. Good charlotte is darn fun though. I think I'm mostly annoyed with the mindless groupies. Jesus, like at the concert little 14 year olds screaming, "Benji marry me!" SIGH. I think the public would like them a little more if they didn't have those retards at the concerts. Seriously, why do they have to wear all those fucking chains and make their hair like Benji's? Enough about retards!

"Oh my god! Benji just looked at me! AHHHH"

*coughs* sorry.

>>By noise_conspiracy   (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 16:49)

I agree, GC wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have a huge crowd of tenny bopper fans trying to act punk and look cool with the "punk" crowd. If GC didn't have such a mainstream fan base, I bet that more people would like them. Personally I used to be really into Good Charlotte. Used to be. Now they just seem so...catchy. Too...popish. But maybe that's just me.

>>By punk_child_8713   (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 18:28)

but i know that this person must be really poor...sorry, but why do u think uve right to judge somebody???

so you judge somebody!?

Funny thing about the fans of GC; in a few weeks they are gonna play in 013 in Tilburg.. But they have an age rule, under 16 you have to go with somebody above 18 as a support.. Well here it is: loads of these kids have bought a ticket, not cosidering the age barrier, and now they are all affraid to not get in the hall... probably they won't control so heavy, but you should have a look at the webstite, only comments on getting in with GC or not...

Means no shit to me, anyway: Going to see a real band that night: UNSANE, playing in the same building, but a different hall..... wheeeeeeeeeee

>>By Campking   (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 18:43)

Once again, Sk8ter H8ter (and nosuprmists) took the words out of my mouths when I was about to respond to Marks_future_wifey. Let me say this again since I probably need to say this on every page anyways since all the poser fans aren't going to read all those pages: Good Charlotte stinks and is a pop band. Don't believe me? Fine, go to your little concerts with your friends wearing all your black make-up and clothing(very likely the same ones GC wears)and your spiked hair screaming, "Marry me Benji!!". Don't give me this bullsh*t excuse that you like them for their music because there are TONS of better bands with better lyrics and a more appealing sound(The Clash comes to mind). Good Charlotte isn't punk, they are pop, and either way, their music.
TRL has overpopularized Good Charlotte to the point were if they weren't pop before, they are now...and they whine too much about their lives, when there are tons of things about society and the world that they could talk about, but wait, that would mean they would risk losing some of their poser fans which are the only ones that are buying their CD's, better not risk it...grow some guts already!!! Stay that way and your career will go down the tubes even faster. And they say that they are listening to their fans for advice, looking at who their fans makes me not buy the CD even more....
If-any-of-you-"GC Lovers"-that-want to-marry-Benji going to call me names for "hatin'" Good Charlotte, then fine, go ahead, don't think I won't bark back...

>>By FutbolFreak   (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 02:21)

ok...too lazy to read all the big postings right now... reply to Marks_future_wifey: you said I was jealous? this is a comment I made to someone who said I was jealous of POD, read it or don't say anything to me again: "...Why do people defend bands that they like by simply saying "you're jealous" it's really annoying and makes no sense...jealous of what? If you're going to try to defend your taste in music, especially when people say that the band you like is s marketting machine and their fans (you) just take what they put out and don't question it, to defend that band you should at least give a reason for liking them! Otherwise you are simply playing right into they're statement that you take what you hear and not question it. Furthermore why would we be jealous of someone who we believe has no talent? to be jealous of talentless crap is simply stupid, if we were jealous simply because they are successful, why would we be jealous of them? there are hundreds upon thousands of successful musicians out there and it makes no sense to pick a band who we dislike, and believe has no talent (therefore making them not enviable at all) and choosing to be jealous of them..."

>>By nosupremists   (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 02:59)

oh and said don't judge your posts? uh...forgive me if I'm wrong but you asked a question and I replied in a format to answer the question I did not judge your post (except when I said that fashion has nothing to do with it) I was simply enlightening your dumbass self <<< that was a misguided judgement seeing as I don't even know you (I used it to be ironic and give an example in case you haven't figured that out...)
