He was my childhood hero. He's always been the victim of unkind critics, but his voice was not only first-rate, it was absolutely unique; he delivered his lines in movies a lot better than he was given credit for; he became expert at choreographed fight scenes; and riding Champion he just looked -- so RIGHT! What a life he had; what a career. And, sadly, there is no definitive biography of him that's ever been written. "Back In the Saddle" is an entertaining autobiography, but it misses the last 20 years of his life, and it doesn't go terribly deep. The real Gene Autry remains elusive, hidden just beyond that sunset he was always riding off into.

I always loved Gene and the sons of the pioneers. I am looking for the words and music to Casper the c andy cowboy I used to sing it as a lullaby to my son, Russell. Russell died recently and I want to sing his lullaby at the memorial service.

I am looking for what I believe is a Gene Autry song. My uncle died recently and we would like to sing or play this song at his funeral. I know it talks about cowboys in heaven or pine trees in heaven (maybe both)? Can anyone help?
