Discussion: Future Sound Of London

What the hell? I figured there would be tons of messages from people about fsol. I think that fsol is to us what bach and betoven were to the people of that era. the only thing equal to fsol would be the orb. The two are mind explorers and should be well noted. I do think that fsol's "the Isness" album is extreamly diffrent than the past albums. They really should not try to sing. Stick with the samples and keep the simplicity complex, and not the complexity simple. Best album? Life Forms and ISDN. If my house was on fire and I could only grab three things, I would grab my FSOL collection, Orb collection, and........ who knows (wouldn't it be a wonderful world if fsol and the orb collaborated?)

The first song i heard by the Future Sound of London was Cascade. It was on Sasha and John Digweed's first Northern Exposure album. I instantly fell in love with that song upon hearing it and decided that i would buy a FSOL album. When i bought the lifeforms CD at first i was disappointed because i usually listen to that heavy "techno" music and this seemed lighter and less involved to me. The more i listened to it however, i recognized its beauty and simpleness and craved for more. I bought IDSN, Dead Cities, Accelerator, The Isness, and the Cascade and My Kingdom singles. I believe that the music made by Brian Dougins and Gaz Cobain is the best in the world and it is too bad people will not let go of their mainstream music to take a look deeper and discover music with meaning.

FSOL is one of the all time greatest, i cant believe i never seen this site before. Ever since cascade have they've been opening new doors. when i first heard shpongle i said to myself...eric...these guys sound like what fsol reminded me of 6 years ago. its a great feeling to listen to them jam, and since, i have expanded my horizons, thanx buddy whoever you are....allow me to look further to figure such questions out

I can't remember if I heard Paupa New Guinea first or the AA work on Ambient 2
(virgin compilation) but I fell in love with them early. Lifeforms is a great two disk set
to come down to from whatever your up on (stress, work, drugs, ...) They have
changed over the years. I wasn't so thrilled with some of their newer stuff at first but
I discovered it was just as good, though in a different style.

Their earlier work definetly creates soundscapes in the way that Eno (with or wtihout
Fripp) could do. The music puts you in a different place, a nice place, with lush
vegitation. I like that place.

One thing I am curious about is ISDN. I've got the limited edition version, and never
picked up the regular one. Is there a difference in the music?
