Fila Brazillia

Forum

A class act - quirky, surprising, tuneful, different, authoratative, sometimes magical, occassionally disappointing - but most of all REAL and the best thing to come out of Hull since the fish invaded! Made their name on the now famous indie label Pork Recordings (which boasts other names such as Baby Mammoth, Momma Gravy and the truly impressive Dub Plates from the Lamp volumes).

Top 5 Fila Tracks:

1. Pots & Pans
2. Leggy
3. Thorwing Down a Shape
4. A Zed and 2 Ls
5. Motown Coppers

Top 3 LPs:

1. Maim That Tune
2. Jump Leads
3. Power Clown

Also see Solid Doctor (one half of Fila - Steve Cobby) - 'Beats Means Highs' has got to be best album ever released on Pork!

haven't picked up maim that tune, but strongly feel "power clown" should be first, followed (maybe behind) "black market gardening". just me thoughts!

Mr Scruff - Get a move on is a really good song. A quiet one but intense one.

Jump Leads is a fantastic album, always goes down well
I do think that should be number one!
Have recently aquired the remix album Brazilification (very good)

Yes, also just got 'brazilification' which is an incredible 'grower' - wasn't sure at first (was comparing too much to K&Ds 'Sessions'), but now I get it! It's the 'growers' that are the best! New Pork compilation coming out soon - 'Pork Chops' celebrating 10 years of Pork/Fila....and includes 'Zed and 2 Ls' and 'Soft Music...' - so hope you are happy cmo!

Fila are one of the most creative acts to come out of the UK in the last decade...final! Developed a bit of a cult following really as not everyone has heard of em...they let the music speak for itself...true to the Pork philosophy (even if they are no longer on the label)...

after the magic adventures in pork label, cobby and man loose all the inspiration. where are the guys of "old codes...", "main that tune" and "mess"?
where is the simplicity of "beats mean high" or "selected works"?
at the momment cobby & man just do a crappy fusion...the same as hundred and hundred people...
return to your origin...it will make me very happy...you were good.
