The first time I heard Fantomas- it scared the hell outta me and I couldn't bare to hear it again for several weeks but then, sober and alert, when I experienced it for the second time, I fell in love. I am a huge fan and I can't wait to see a live show! Thank you so much!

FantÔmas are simply one of the most original bands to have played the earth. Brain child of master Mike Patton, and a team of musical geniuses that share his vision. If you haven't heard the FantÔmas yet, you've been missing out for years. I am a Mike Patton-aholic. I can't get enough, and I can't wait for the new album! It's going to rock my socks off!

Fantômas aren't really that original. And I'll tell you why.... Patton basically ripped off John Zorn's Naked City. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan and I have seen them four times in concert, but even Mike Patton said that the "Directors Cut" album is the "most unoriginal shit I have ever done." That is exactly what the man said.

I find it hilarious. Fantômas are not scary.... They make me howl with laughter every time I hear 'em. Wait til this third album comes out.

LOL!

fantomasmelvins: best live album ever!!!

>>By bela   (Sunday, 25 May 2003 14:23)

Fantomas' first album sucked and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. I'm into all of Patton's stuff but please........... Directors Cut however was better and more what I expected, hopefully they won't go back to their shit of earlier days.

mike patton's brain child after all this time of being a memeber of other great bands. its something a little bit different and seems to confuse people because its hard to listen to but that keeps it interesing both on self titled and directors cut. patton is a great musican because he needs to get a lot out of is his sytem with ideas, sounds and experimentation. he's a great musican- i say... one might say "he's unoriginal." or "its just noise!" i think patton would say "fuck you all" he does this shit because its true to his charater. the music is fucking amazing and full of energy even post-crack addiction

Fantômas is the most Original, Fun, Powerfull, Scary, Energizing, Psicadelic, Exciting, Peacefull, Cold, Agressive, Bright, Dynamic, Calm, Dark and Sweet Sound ever made by any Rock Band over the last 30 years(Black Sabbath:always the best!).To Buzz, Dave, Trevor and Mike... THANKS for makin´me feel good music again!!!

try taking some shrooms and listening to the directors cut. cape fear made me shit my pants. and lets not forget about the ghetto bounce track in the 2nd half of the cd that would make dr dre's dome bob.

anyone in socal going to see fantomas and melt banana in ventura?

>>By hehohno   (Sunday, 21 Mar 2004 16:23)

I missed seeing them recently, sadly. I got into Fantômas through Mr. Bungle, first heard Director's Cut and have spread out from there.

I wouldn't say he's ripping off John Zorn - the influence is undeniable, but they're still different. To be honest I like Fantômas's stuff a little more than some of Zorn's stuff that I've heard - but that's just personal taste, I'm not gonna say one is better than the other.

Oh, and the self-titled album is terrific. Anyone who says otherwise is... ;) Delìrium Còrdia is much better, but both are really good.
