these guys are my favorite rock band. they are totally taken over by their music, sincere, all out there. when i hear their music, god feels a little bit closer. and human.
if you haven't heard them live, pray for the day you are graced with it. i've seen them three times now--in new orleans, boston, and northampton, and i cried at two of their shows. these guys completely shred--not just their instruments, but the space between your ears and the distance form that to your heart, your gut.

What a great band, really wonderful!!!!!! i'm on my knees!!!
They are so so so so so good!!
I am a big fan of Mogwai and they are as talented as their scottish friends!!!!
May be more
what a band my god!!!!!!!!!!

they fucking suck!
the voice on "have u passed thru the nite" was stolen from the movie "the thin red line".

>>By fuck_explosion_in_yr_ass

They don't suck, and they even say they took the line from the book "the thin red line".

>>By Infyra

Anyone who says explotions in the sky suck clearly has under-developed and ignorant music tastes.

I just have to say, explosions in the sky are great, i'm a big fan, and when i listen to them, i feel like i get a wash of what summer sounds like. Thanks for making the music to them.

stop. this is the band you've been looking for. buy the albums. turn up the volume. you will be whole again.

>>By fearandloathing

Pristine, clear and powerfull. Rising and ebbing like a great wave with powerfull undercurrents. Truly modern music.

if you guys like explosions you may also like Godspeed! You Black Emperor out of Canada. The are a little more rough-edged than explosions but just as powerfull, check em out.

And Trans Am, Idaho, Do Make Say Think, tortoise etc etc.... there might be a chance you like one of these bands... surely explosions in the sky is great... Hope they come back to the netherlands soon, so I can see them again... for it is certainly worth leaving the house on a friday evening....

fantastic.....

the sole reason to my registerring with "FlorK" was to post information about "Explosions In The Sky"..... I came across their name at amazon.com while searching info for "Aerial M"....

I've been listening to "Earth" for the past 3 days ever since....stunning....

I emailed the band requesting their plugs for similar sounding bands....for those interested Chris Hrasky emailed the following plugs... Sonna, Wind Up Bird, Eluvium

enjoy

Anyone heard of Dirty Three or Fennesz.......cause if you haven't you should check them out......especially if you dig Explosions.......pure emotion......

>>By Superstarzz!!

I secomd that, Dirty three are great, my girlfriend introduced me to them, and I got hooked. If you need another motivation to go and listen the Dirty Three: the violinist also played in the tour band of Nick Cave, and th whole D.T. appear on some of his records, if I am not wrong, the one after Boatman's call........

When I first heard Explosions, I fell in love: the Mogwai of Young Team had returned: a music all about texture and dynamics, as Brian Eno made clear long ago that rock is truly about. Then I discovered the Japanese band Mono and found that early Mogwai was still influencing new bands, while Mogwai itself has returned to an equally interesting, though not quite as moving, connection with Slint (and therefore Aerial M, elenita).

Are there any Brits out there who went to ATP and saw Mogwai and the Slint reunion?

What they do is not new but who gives a shit when they've got songs like First Breath After Coma

Is anyone like a huge fan of this band that could tell me what the song is playing at the end of Friday Night Lights? It's an instrumental I'm pretty sure, and someone said it was by Explosions in the Sky. So I hope someone can help me out!

>>By Jane

Alright..i helped myself hah. I figured out it was 'your hand in mine' and now i can't get enough of it. wonderful band.

>>By Jane
