Greetings all ye fools and true folks, what i have come to realize is bands like Dimmu Borgir, are in it for the money and nothing more, i mean sure i listen to them(while im falling asleep) I wouldent say any band is the greatist, there are to many out there to rate by your feeble scale, I dont follow the crowd i listen to what ever i want and what ever i deem good for my self and my self only. on a more further note, Emperor is great, there newer stuff to much synth, anthems to the welkin is a true classic, Night side eclipse is a epic worthy of any metal fan, With Strength i burn has to be a true song of a warrior, i take pride in my Nordic heritage, considering i live in the united states. and there is nothing wrong with kids listening to great bands such as emperor, but i believe they should educate them selvs in what black metal is, so they dont seem ignorante, Metal in any form is for everyone, Heavy, Black, Death Speed, Thrash, Doom, Gore, and so on, just dont get caught with your pants down, and not know nothing about a band you like. and i can see the replys now, people probally going oh what an idiot, he dosent go hail satan, or hail Nationalistic pride, fuck off you ignorante fucks and grow up.

Emperor is probably the greatest modern Black metal band. In the Night side Eclipse is the pinnacle of the genre.

Hmmm..Emperor's music is beyond black metal. The first two albums are raw and not very well produced but the emotion more than makes up for it. I never thought I'd say that about an album ^_^! The last two ablums showed Ihsahn going beyond black metal and not staying within the boundaries but still holding onto the same intensity as the first two. I don't see Anthems and Nightside ever being eclipsed by any other black metal band in the near future...I see Emperor outside of the very confined metal realm and as just good music. Upside down crosses or pentagrams will never make a band worth a fuck...

The guys from Emperor fucking KICK ASS. They are probably the best black metal band the world has ever known. They are absolutely very creative and they managed to implement a great level of atmosphere and complexity combined with extreme brutality into the black metal genre. Unfortunately they split-up in 2001, so there's no opportunity to see them alive. I like Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk most.

Emperor simply proves that extreme metal, just like 'mainstream' metal (meaning: heavy metal and other, so to say, relatively easily accessible styles of metal) is a 'serious' style of music and is not anymore made by some noisy teenagers wanting to rebel agains their parents and be more extreme than anyone.
