i dunno if they're, like, the 'inevitable' sucky parts of life... but they are things that a lot of people go through. I'm not saying i just like the words and cotext of the songs.... I mean, I love the acoustic sounds of DC and POA (pictures of annie <-- check 'em out, they're small and a little unknown.... but AWESOME) and they way that emo just... SOUNDS. I dunno.... everyone likes diff. stuff I guess.

ok i just wanna say i love emo and screamo and tons of other music...one of the reasons i love emo is because of its energy, if im in a bad mood i can listen 2 it, and i feel happy and more energized. i swear every single f* time i turn it on i end up bouncing off my walls. and also it may just seem like all theyre doing is whining but that helps me. to know some one else out there is feeling the same way i am. and also when im feeling sh*tty and i wanna let it out but i cant put how i feel into words and then i hear a song that explains it beautifully i think hey! thats exactly how i feel! and emo turns out to be pretty much the only thing in this world that makes sense, if it just annoys you then dont listen 2 it but i love it :-D (taking back sunday seems to have a way with words that i love if your ever feeling down pop them into your cd player) and brand new! theyre fun to headbang to in your pajamas!!! ;-)

i know this is kind of over with but i just wanna say that it does kind of suck that ppl have to lable music and cant just say if they like it or not, but i kind of understand why u have to. if some one asks u what kind of music you listen to, or if your talking about a good band, how else would you describe them other than their genre? i just wish ppl wouldnt be so judgemental about it. its supposed to be a way of describing music, not an excuse to go off on how much a band sucks just because of their "label"

As far as I'm concerned, Brand New is one of the Best live bands out there right now, and everyone should check them out just once. Also Hot rod circuit is one of the funnest bands to go see.
>>By kelela (Monday, 26 Jan 2004 20:56)
i love brand new....never really paid much attention to hot rod circuit but i'll check them out a little bit more

i hate it when i tell people i like emo and they say it sucks, and then i ask them if they even know what emo is and they go "yea blink 182, good charlotte" uh no, not emo, so for everyone here, if you consider that emo then you're in the wrong discussion room. brand new, thursday, taking back sunday, and the used (if you would consider them emo, i do) are my favorite emo bands. if you wanna listen to some old emo bands from back when it first started, try sunny day real estate, moss icon, and the starters of emo-Rites of Spring, EMO IS THE BEST!!! :-D
>>By callme_8675309 (Saturday, 14 Feb 2004 21:32)
Haha yeah, my friend told me today that Blink 182 were emo. Okay then... I think Billy Talent are the most un-emo emo band.

I think EMO has to be replaced by a new name tag for the same bands, for loads of what for me is the "new" "EMO", doesn't sound anything like what I grew up with as being "emo" (still hate the term anyway)... Where are the bands like Fugazi, S D Realestate, JUNO, Favez etc etc?
Now they just sound like every average old fashion guitar band......
>>By Campking (Monday, 16 Feb 2004 16:58)
Fugazi is considered an Emo band. I love them... not that that makes them emo. In any case, it's not so much that the change in style has changed the genre itself. Emocore is more so about the context than the sounds.
>>By poachkn (Wednesday, 7 Apr 2004 00:44)
emo is amazing. nuff said.
>>By punk_child_8713 (Wednesday, 14 Jul 2004 03:53)
As I was told once by a guy who says he knows: Emo is not the same as emocore. But can anyone here tell me the difference?
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Wednesday, 14 Jul 2004 12:34)
Glassjaw and Boysetsfire are excellent, and Taking Back Sunday and At The Drive In are pretty good. Apart from that, i'm not big on emo.
>>By Stinkfist (Wednesday, 14 Jul 2004 17:46)
Last comment on here was 2 years ago almost... well, in that time, my concept of "emo" has changed a Hell of a lot... I know find emo to be the second most irritating thing on the planet, with such bands as My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy being called emo... and not just the fact that the music which was once just about bearable (although there've always been some emo bands I hate) has been replaced by cloned rubbish - also the fact that people who mainly listen to emo see it as their duty to dress up in a stupid emo uniform (individual items of which might not look so bad on their own apart from A) the black and yellow hair B) leaving your arse hanging out of your trousers
>>By Sk8a H8a (Saturday, 29 Apr 2006 15:15)
from what i have seen emos make me laugh
>>By scarletnikki (Saturday, 29 Apr 2006 16:11)
I don't like emo kids, they seem to make token attempts to appear unhappy and full of angst, when actually they're part of a scene and they're always at parties and have shitloads of friends, and that's just the way they like it. Someone needs to sit them down and say ''Listen, you're not Hamlet, you haven't got any real problems, so stop wearing those stupid black clothes and Manga hairstyles and stop showing off.'
As for the music, all the emo I've heard is dull and forgettable.
>>By Flagg (Saturday, 29 Apr 2006 23:42)
Oh yeah and the whole concept is very selfish. Popular young people wrapped up in themselves, making a lifestyle out of being moody after a failed romance, and not worrying about the millions of people all over the world with *real* problems.
I would so love to crash some party full of emo schoolkids and put Rage Against the Machine on really loud. Wake the little brats up ;)
>>By Flagg (Saturday, 29 Apr 2006 23:48)
They're the very epitome of the equation "cloned = normal = popular = cool"... a lot of people think that originality is a very cool thing - that's because in this modern day, the world is led by forward thinking (everything's changing all the time with new inventions, fashions and ideas) and that's because some people decide that they wanna think differently to the masses and do something different - annoyingly, the whole idea of original thought seems to have been turned over completely because first of all people distorted it to the idea of rebelling against the majority and then the rebel minority became the majority because a successful revolution relies upon numbers... now we have a vast group of people who are emo who think they're cool A) because there are so many of them but B) because they're different to everyone else - oh, the accursed irony! It's horrible - if this kind of ridiculous trend-following goes on, what's to stop right-wing extremists taking over the country? Hitler must have been emo - look at his hair! Well, what if they all vote for the next emo to declare himself saviour of the German people? It could happen... and I'm serious about that! The willingness of today's youth to follow such a stupid trend, combined with their lack of concern for politics, can only lead to political insecurity
>>By Sk8a H8a (Sunday, 30 Apr 2006 02:04)
Well as far as I can tell that's nothing new. It's how it's always been, that's why we have trends at all, because people follow them. Kinda obvious I guess. I doubt the emo kids are gonna be responsible for making us all live in a right-wing dictatorship, they're just annoying. I'm used to people doing what everyone else does, it's emo itself I have a problem with. For reasons I already said.
>>By Flagg (Sunday, 30 Apr 2006 17:27)
Yeees, but the emos seem worse than other trends... that and Hitler was an emo
>>By Sk8a H8a (Sunday, 30 Apr 2006 17:53)
go to this page and watch the emo video it cracks me up!! ; chrissy wissy Norman Lily-x-Lazer
>>By scarletnikki (Sunday, 30 Apr 2006 19:20)
Wow ... how come there is an entire board just for emo? There isn't a band called "emo" ... is there one for other genres in general? Or is emo just special? Don't yell at me if this was already answered, I just didn't feel like reading that far back in the posts. And the Emo Kid video/song is awesomexcore ... haha.
