I pretty much like all of the songs on that album but if I had to pick then I guess my fav. song would have to be "Division St."

What the f....... are Emo glasses....???????????????????????????? If even using labels I thought it was the music that made the labels (how arbitrary ever), not the glasses or a tie?!
But ofcourse, where have I been: it is all about the looks.....

But still....
WHAT THE F...... ARE EMO GLASSES??????????????????????????????
>>By Campking

Emo glasses are something Canadian, I bet. Just to show a little camaraderie, I don't know what they are either.
>>By Sk8er H8er

>>By Sk8er H8er
emo glasses are thick and black. Like Buddy Holly. Yes. Canadians are cool. SOME OF THEM. Some of the posers out there *cough* Avril *cough* make us seem bad. And her posse of tie wearing freaks...
>>By punk_child_8713
Canadians...other thatn being Canadian are not too much different than Americans we both have our stereo types of course and they spell "colour" different but other than that they're not much different except for the fact that us Americans are on average much more obese much less environmentally and economically sound and Canadians have an awesome accent. please correct me if I'm wrong but their are cool Canadians and believe it or not.... cool Americans too! but that's just the population the government and lifestyle is much cooler in my opinion but that's just my stupid American beliefs
>>By nosupremists
haha actually I've always thought that Canadians are much cooler than us so much for trying to be controvercial heh...oh well I love Canadians too!
>>By nosupremists
im canadian
>>By jack_is_hot7
cool
>>By nosupremists
Yeah, Canadians are the coolest. I only know about 11 but I love them all. But Buddy Holly isn't black, and he's not thick either (although that's a matter of opinion). I suppose emo glasses have to be a lot thicker than mine if they look like Buddy Holly's.
>>By Sk8er H8er
yeah but i alwayz wanted to live in detroit
and we DO NOT always say "ay"
>>By jack_is_hot7
I only know Canadians because the get pissed being called American, and then thinking that The Netherlands is a state of Germany.... But I guess they are cool...
>>By Campking
Let's see if this will disappear again....
>>By Campking
Cool, this should be called the "Canadians" board rather than the emo board. No offence to Canadians, but Canada is a part of America, just as Brazil, USA, Cuba and Ecuador are. I still love Canadians more than anyone else though! Sorry jack_is_hot but I don't know any Canadians who don't say "ay" (although they spell it "eh"). What part of Canada are you from? Is it anywhere near Detroit (near the border that is)? Does anybody know where were the origins of emo? This is a serious question by the way, not just something to change my Canadian post into an emo post.

Does anybody know where were the origins of emo?
It lies in the pen of a journalist that heard some hardcore bands that also played some melodic lines in their songs, don't recall the bandname, but I dear to think it was Fireside, and then this journalist was all mixed up and wondering what to do now?!?!?!?!?!? he came there to listen to and write about some hardcore bands, but this wasn't hardcore, for it had emotion.. what do I have to do NOWWWWWWW? And to make it easy for himself again, probably on advice of his psychiatric counsel, he decided to give it the name Emotional HardCore, or short Emo Core.. After a while some of these so called Emocore bands started playing songs that were only melodic, in no sence there was still any reminder of the old hardcore, actually it started to sound as the old IndieRock, but since the Journalist didn't want those two groups to be mixed he took some valiums and came up with the idea of calling this "new " sound in music land EMO... and thus there was EMO........

just a bit cynical

i looked it up, and according to the people that "know", the second band of Ian Mackay (the band after Minor Threat) is seen as the first "EMO"... (the bands name is Embrace) it is in fierce competition with the band Rites of Spring, also seen as one of the first... But who caress, mostly when some time later the remains of both bands start a more know, and hopefully widely honoured and influential band: FUGAZI.... Big influences on the excistence of EMO are bands like Minor Threat en Bad Brains, who are not considered EMO, because they didn't invent the word yet when they played around.........
>>By Campking
Wow, I didn't think of Embrace as emo. I am personally a fan but I never called them emo. All you good good people, listen to me. If Embrace really is emo, emo has come a long way since then and personally I don't think it's improved.
>>By Sk8er H8er
When ever something becomes hip Sk8er h8er, it always loses abit of the power it used to have, because kids start doing it because they think it is hip. .. which can even end up with gurls saying that April Lasagna is Emo... Because she has emo glasses.....
now I know what they are: I must say I always refer to them as Elvis Costello glasses, but maybe he is EMO to.....
>>By Campking
I'm Kyle and I'm from Canada, but I am in Mexico right now. Ther's a funny thing here, EMO glasses are seem quite popular and they are worn by many people, but not just EMO fans. Although many of the EMO fans do have them.
Secondly I don't think there is a real defined history to EMO music, because it seems that EMO is such a vast genre, I mean there are so many EMO bands that sound completely different that there is no way to know what the first "EMO band" was. But that is just my opinion.
>>By Blooming Withered
most emo bands don't liked being called emo
>>By emogirl
just the name "emo" is enough to make me want to kill someone.
>>By Good King Rufus
Actually emogirl a lot of bands coming into the scene actually consider themselves and call themselves emo.
>>By Emoboy2.0
I agree with Good King Rufus, emo sucks. One can be assurred that any genre defined by its lyrical content sucks.
