Discussion: Dr And The Medics

Pages: 1 2
they are merely 2 pieces of cloth, carefully stitched together!

>>By hurdygurdypigfucker

i have just seen Doctor and the Medics playing live, and they are the best laugh i have had in a long time.
the band really look as if they enjoy playing together, and the Doctor was funny, sang really well, and the whole evening rocked!! the 1500 people in the audience were loving every joke, song and were swept away by the enthusism of the band.
This is want i want to see when i go to a concert, not some geezer with a computer and a backing track and some clone of a girl/boy singing meaningless drivel.
And Boy bands? keeeeeeeeeeel them all! all the company manufactered bands all look the same, sound the same and are here today, gone tomorrow.

BUY DR and the MEDICS. give a real band some real money- keep music live

When I was born my mam used to play me spirt in the sky and since then this has been my favourite ever song and I would just like to know more details about the group who sang this song if any body can help me email me at kinkygirl330@hotmail.com

Thank you

>>By kinkygirl

went to see them once (i think i was off my face)in Camden
I was a deeply confused raver with mental problems.
We did a really silly dance called the bug or the beetle where everyone lay on the floor and kicked their legs in the air like flipped bugs.
Did anyone else experience this or am i mad.

when were dr and the medics a hit?

16 years ago according to the dr himself, say them on Saturday (totally amazing) they were a 1 hit wonder with Spirit in the Sky.

>>By Tosky

please no advertising and no pretending you are the subject of the discussion. if you *are* tsotd, contact me (impressum). thanx.

mg
If I knew how to contact you I would, no clues any where. Who else would have an email address of doctor@doctorandthemedics.com try it i'll respond as Im pretty cheesed off with you. This is a notice board about MY BAND and there is no reason why I should not use it to respond to people kind enough to take an interest in us.
email me and let me know what your problem is.
And why you removed the comment from the people who came to see us at Minehead beggars belief.
I await with anticipation
THE DOCTOR

>>By Doctor

Why was my rave review about Minehead rubbed off? Give me some gig info, there's nothing on your site. I'm desperate to bring new blood to your shows.

Doctor

PS Credit to Amazon they are selling "Laughing at the Pieces" for us (CD issue of original 1986 LP) which I am listening to now and sounds better on CD than Vinyl. By the way if you collect odd stuff hurry as the printers have cocked up the first 500 and the spine of the CD gives the title as "Laughing at the peices" (Note spelling of Pieces) Just cant get the staff these days.

>>By The Doctor

Ahoy Doctor & All Medics Out At Sea!

"Laughing At The Pieces" is such a brilliant effort, and it's so sad that only the cover song got pushed! Frankly,I don't even think it's the real fans that made them a "novelty cover band",it was the suits wot done it!

Oh well....those of us whom enjoy you for the music and laughs, are the ones whom know better.

Anyroad, just a shout to the Doc. & All,glad to know yer still making the 'rounds......maybe to California sometime in the future?

All the best, from a long time American fan.
( well....not "Druids" long,but "Happy But Twisted" long. )
( and thanks for co-writing "Grimly Fiendish" as well. )

Anyone know where I can get "The Goats are Trying to Kill Me" on vinyl? I've got the live version on the "Live at Alice in Wonderland" and know that the original vinyl is rarer than hen's teeth but there must be some spare one out there somewhere!!

Hey Doctor - If you read this: thanks for all the great music. "Instant Heaven" is a regular visitor to my CD player and the new version of "Laughing" (hey - I've got one of the rare ones) is already starting to wear thin (Okay I know CDs don't wear out but it's like a reference back to the old days of vinyl!! - ha ha). Really looking forward to the 2CD collection.

Clive the lead singer is also fom eltham in south london
or he was last time i knew him

>>By mel_blondeuk

Ive only got one copy of Goats/Druids myself. Ebay is the only option and I've only ever seen one for sale there.
No plans for California yet.
Yes I was a scout leader at one point and only gave it up as the band got busy. I thought it important to get kids out of London and up mountains, in rivers etc. to expand their experiences. There is still no greater organisation in the world to give kids a chance to do stuff they'd not do otherwise. It gets a lot of bad press but im happy to stick my neck out and give it some poss feedback.
Thanks again for all the great comments

Can Doctor and the Medics really be classed as "One Hit Wonders"? According to the Guinness Book of Hit Singles they had three chart entries - "Spirit", "Burn" (4 weeks, highest placing no.29), and "Waterloo". Sorry, it's a bit pedantic, I know.

Personally I've always thought they should have had more chart success - "Burn", "Drive She Said", and "More" were all excellent singles and should all have done well but I suppose they just weren't mainstream enough. I know chart placing is no measure of success but it seems to be what counts for the general public.

>>By Yeskev

Yeskev, Thanks for that.
Also sang on Ferry Aid (No1) and wrote lyrics for Grimley Fiendish by the Damned (No 21).
Chart success was fun but no where near as much fun as gigging was and still is.

Hi, just found this site after extensive medical searching,
while out today i spotted a poster for Dr & the Medics. Last time I saw them they were playing acoustic ( which in my opinion was just as brill as they have always been) , but sadly the only original members there were Steve and Clive. Now I see a poster and it is only Clive that I recognise. where has the magnificent mcguire gone???????
and will there ever be any more Alice revivals????

>>By Barbie

Ride the beetle ride...all those years ago and many gigs gone by I used to frequent the gigs of Dr and the medics and ocasionally the groovy cellar and most memorably the 24 hour technicolour dream at Butlins Clacton unless my memory fails me.......the answer is simple....WHAT.......the druids are here!!!

>>By Druid at heart

Would like to say a big thank you to The Doctor & his group for a great show last night at St Albans. Shame that the crowd was on the small side, but I think everyone there enjoyed the performance. Look forward to seeing you there again in december for the christmas show with slade.
all the best
Luke.

Wow!!! I was at St Albans too :) It was excellent wasn't it....I went really just for t-rextasy but Dr and The Medics were fantastic...I'd almost forgotten how much I loved them when I was 6 (all those years ago).

Like you I can't wait for December with Slade (ok they'd be better WITH Noddy but I still don't mind if I get to see SLADE!!! and apparently t-rextasy again too...though Danielz wasn't 100% certain)

Do you know what date this one's gonna be yet?

Love to all you medicaholics (and much love to the sexy doctor himself :P)
