Never cared for them.

i really liked their debut album, "Searching For The Young Soul Rebels". it was beat-heavy on that *Northern (England) Soul* sound. But at some point they tranformed themselves into some kinda "gypsy-celt" outfit & got themselves a mega-hit with, "Come-On Eileen" .......... that reincarnation and sound of the band is one that i couldn't warm-up to.

See, their boss, Kev Rowland was such a strange guy. So priggish & po-faced. He kept a very straight face throughout all these costume changes that he wrought on the band, himself included, cross-dressing even! An image of a deranged, maybe certifiably insane individual who somehow managed to escape the net. OK, I gotta admire & respect him for that.

haha yeah saw him on the TV recently under the guise of ....... "One Hit Wonders .... Where Are They Now" type of shows. without a doubt .... one bizarre character. hard to tell though if he REALLY is off-kilter & eccentric or if it's just an act to garner attention anyway still LOVE "Searching For The Young Soul rebels"
